My study abroad is over. I left EG last night and midnight, and am writing this from my hostel in Madrid. I was sad to leave- can't believe I won't be back there in the forseeable future. I had a good last day- mostly just packing and walking around town. Sat on a balcony overlooking the ocean for a while and remembered how beautiful Malabo can look. I'll miss it, and everyone there. A lot.
But. Madrid is amazing. I have been here about 12 hours now and I'm in love with this city. Met Drew (my friend from Pacific who is studying abroad here in Madrid) at the airport at 9:30 and it was wonderful to see him again. I miss Pacific people so much, and I didn't realize how much until I saw him and we started chatting about SIS and people we knew and campus and inside jokes and wonderfulness. He took Mary (my lovely traveling buddy) and I around Madrid- we visited an art museum and saw works by Picasso and Dali, we visited the Palacio Royal (Royal Palace) and the Plaza Mayor. It was amazing to walk around a real city. We also had Ben&Jerry's ice-cream, which made my day.
Tonight, Mary and I are heading to midnight mass at one of the gigantic cathedrals here, and then out for wine and tapas. I love Madrid.
