soooooo, im being paid by an agent to translate an academic article for a chinese scientist. i made the first round of translations, and sent it to the agent, who sent it to the client. it came back to me with amendments. i'm like, okay, lets see if they are reasonable, since i might have misinterpreted the chinese in the first place.
i saw the corrections and i was like wtf. my response was independently verified by two other people.
as usual, the quotable quotes come from qz:
"he is totally off. i couldnt even finish reading the sentence."
"what the fuck is 'refers to that when'?"
"i thought it is 'tend', he added the 'r' by mistake. then i realised he meant 'trend' and i almost tossed my cookies."
i asked qz if his students are this bad, and his response:
"i dont think so. they are bad and they know they are bad. someone who is bad but thinks he is good is much worse."
i'm going to go to the agent with the two translations and ask him to decide.
