So… where do I start to explain why my life is seriously messed up. See! I don’t even curse but this is a cursing situation.
On Sat night, I am getting ready to go hang out with some Admissions counselor friends- Brandi from Samford (soon to be at Vandy), Sandra from Southern Poly, Maiyawa from Emory and Jakita formerly of University of Alabama.
I am late as usual, but not driving super fast. I get about a mile away from my house and I hear this LOUD pop. The car suddenly is uncontroable. I slow down and pull to the side of the road.
BOTH of my passenger side tires are busted! Its ridiculous!! So I call the gang and tell them that I am out- Game over. No car, flat tires. They say- we’ll come pick you up, call AAA. So I call them, and ask what they can do for me. Nothing is the basic answer. See, a light duty truck could change my tire, but I only have one spare, and a tow truck can only tow me 5 miles before I pay 5 dollars for each additional mile.
So…. I try to think of an alternative. I decide to drive the car to a safe place out of the middle of the street. Thankfully, my eyes catch site of an elementary school near by. I pull the car slowly and difficulty into the driveway of the school parking lot. I figure, leave it there til morning, then I can get my dad to help me take the wheels off and get them repaired at Pep Boys.
So, the girls come and pick me up from the house, we go to the Tavern at Phipps, Tech wins the game against NC State, a bad night turns into a pretty good evening.
On the way home, we pass by my car, it is still there, I go home, call AAA and ask them about my options again, and I decide to wake up this morning to have them change the tires for me.I might as well use them for what they are good for.
So this moring around 10 I call AAA, they meet me at the school to change the tires and…..THERE IS NO CAR.
The car is gone. No CAR!
I panic. I look for posted signs about towing. There are none. I call the police to report the car stolen, but I don’t have the VIN number, so I have to call back. Then, I call the police back and ask if they would have impounded the car. They claim that they would not impound a vehicle unlesit was in the roadway. It wasn’t. I give them the VIN and they caim not to have the vehicle. They suggest calling A-Tow a private towing company to see if the school had it towed. I call A-Tow, they saw call R & T Towing. I call them, they say to call B & L towing. B & L have my car. The police had it impounded for “Abandnment”. It had not even been sitting there for a full 12 hours before they had it towed, much less 24 hours. I didn’t get chance to abandon the stupid car cause they had it towed!
Now I have to pay 105 for the towing, 10 dollars per day for storage and I STILL have 2 flat tires.
To top it all off, I need a copy of my tag tax recept in order to get an impound release from the police, and I thought it was in my car, but after driving to the impound lot and going in the car0 its not there.
Greta things to look forward to doing on Monday morning:
1) Going to the Tag office for a duplicate of my tag reiept
2) Going to City Hall East to get an impound release form
3) Going to B&L towing with the release and paying 115 to get my car out of hock.
4) STILL having to TOW THE STUPID CAR to PEP Boys so that the TWO flat tires can be repaired.
5) Trying not to curse anyone out in the process.
6) Going to work and acting like I am happy.
If only I believed in drugs, or frivolous sex- I need an out of this world HIGH to keep me from going insane, and alcohol just isn’t going to cut it. Sigh….. the thought of cracking open my good friend Jack is tempting but I have to be able to accomplish lots tomorrow, so I shall resist.
Days like this though…… I really do wish I had a man who coul at least change a tire for me.
