Hello! Yesterday I attended with my three editing co-workers a seminar in Pasadena, about women in the workplace and how to communicate better and be assertive and deal with asshats (my words, not theirs). Had some interesting pointers (e.g., when dealing with a conflict or problem, focus on how something happened, not why it happened), but one of the two instructors was too touchy-feely for my taste and spouted "The Secret"-style views. She mentioned at one point that she had often worried about a loose tire hitting her car and then one day it did, and it proves how your thoughts can come true. That is not how reality works. Aargh.

But hey, it was nice to get away for the day, and the per diem more than covered my expenses, so extra money!

I'm going to see the new Terminator movie with a friend on Saturday and then I think I'll see Magic Mike XXL on Monday.

YAY, extra per diem! But wow, The Secret is not real life. Jeez.

Good on you for Magic Mike. It is so funny.

The other instructor was pretty decent, but this woman seemed to make it all about her.

I'm glad it's funny. The first Magic Mike had some really serious scenes and it was like, dude, I just want to see hot mostly naked guys.

OMG the loose tire thing. Sorry lady, you did not will that into happening. Bonus for per diem, though!

I hope you have had a lovely day celebrating Jack White's Birth!

I did hear one of his songs on my iPod at the gym, and "Seven Nation Army" on the drive home. So I feel appropriately celebratory.
