everything i start to write just sounds really sad and depressing. so instead, i'll wish you all a Happy St. Joseph's Day and hope that you were able to indulge in the traditional pastries! i started off with the cannoli-cream cream sfinge this morning, and just finished my custard-filled one :)

I had no idea that today was St. Joseph's Day OR that it required pastries. You just made my decision to go to the store that much easier.

I read about your recent news on FB. I'm sorry about what you're going through. :(

thanks pumpkin :)

The store might not have St Joseph's pastries, but you can get cream puffs or eclairs! Enjoy!

Resident Jew here. What is St. Joseph's day, and can you eat a sfinge with your sfingers? Inquiring minds want to know.

It's St. Joseph's feast day :) I think all saints have them -- I've run far from the Italian Catholic life I once lead, but I like the saints. And I know about this one because both my father and brother are Josephs, so my dad would always get the sfinges.

They definitely can be eaten with sfingers ;) They're basically big cream puffs either filled with cannoli cream or custard. They are most certainly delicious!

Regardless of religion, I fully support any holiday that involves pastries, and I hope your cannolis made you feel a little better.

Just to clarify, I am 1000% in favor of holidays that come with food. Especially of the dessert variety.

This is why everyone should observe Chanukah, because jelly donuts are official holiday food.

And chocolate! The chocolate is clutch.
