Good morning fiesty and majestic frill-necked lizards!
How great were the last two episodes? I love Judge Perd (Judge Perd is not a Judge).
This week I marathoned episodes 1 to 6 of Galavant. I'm saving the last two episodes for the weekend. It's not a great show, but it is lots of fun and Galavant is a bit of alright.
I also started watching Breaking Bad again. I had watched up to the end of Season 4 before I went to the US just over a year ago and then my partner decided to watch Season 5 while I was in the US. I've finally gotten around to watching Season 5 and I'm now 6 episodes in. It's just as great and stressful as I remembered.
In work news, my work put me forward for a scholarship to do a Diploma. It will mean either 6 days in Brissy or 6 days in my home town. The rest of the diploma is online. I can't imagine it will be too hard and it never hurts to have extra qualifications.
In sad news, my favourite author Colleen McCullough died yesterday. She wrote the First Man in Rome series which I think is unarguably the greatest historical fiction series of all time.
Our stupid Prime Minister, who wishes it was the 1950's, brought back Australian knighthoods and decided to announce on Australia Day that he was making Prince Phillip, the Queen's hubby, a knight. It looks like this might be the straw that broke the camels back and he will get toppled over it, so Australia could have a new Prime Minister soon. It looks like the Queensland Premier, who is possibly worse than our Prime Minister, will lose his seat during the election on Saturday even though his conservative party are favourite to win. How humiliating!
I was so glad that I waited to watch Breaking Bad until the series had ended...I can't imagine how stressed out I would have been waiting for that show week after week and year to year. I marathoned the entire series in, like, 2 weeks and was STILL stressed out!
Why does Prince Phillip even need a knighthood? He's a prince! And the queen's husband! I hope for your sake that at least this leads to a less ridiculous Prime Minister
Your sentiments are the same as every Australian, including Abbott's Ministers and the Murdoch newspapers. I've never see Murdoch's papers turn against a tory government like that. One of the biggest Murdoch papers changed the date on the front page to 1955!
Well technically the Queen does the knighting, or the Queen's rep (I think I read somewhere that William does it these days) but the Prime Minister picks who gets knighted and asks the Queen to do it.
Australians can be knighted by the Queen under the UK honours system but Australia has a separate honours system to the UK. For example there is an Order of Australia medal whereas the UK equivalent would be the Order of the British Empire.
Previously Australia had its own system of knighthood but it was gotten rid of so any Australians knighted would have been probably ex-pats living in the UK although the Queen can knight anyone she wants.
Also, not to nit pick but Russell Crowe is a kiwi. We claimed him for a while after he won the Oscar but gave him back to NZ after the phone throwing incident.

Now I'd better get back to work!
