Let's start with the facts..
Name: Emily
Age: 28
Location: Chicago suburbs
Other places to find me: @emilyla on twitter, but mostly I just use it to complain about grammatical atrocities I come across in my job.

Oh, how I love Parks and Rec!
How I got into the show: I got tired of people yelling at me to watch it. Many close friends had told me I would love it, but I felt like I already watched enough TV and didn’t need another show. Around January I finally gave in. My friends were right.
How/when I found this community: When I really fell in love with the show, I started googling the hell out of it.
Favourite character(s): Leslie. Because she’s so earnest, and she tries so hard to do things the right way, and I just want her to win at everything. Also, I don’t know if it’s the character or Chris Pratt’s acting, but Andy usually makes me laugh harder than anyone else. When he asks where the presidents’ faces are at the Grand Canyon, I die every time.
Favourite episode(s): Jerry’s Painting - I could watch Ben pretend not to look ( ... )

I'm only able to knit scarves. I must have at least 8 or 9 scarves in my closet, just waiting for the winter to come!

Haha, awesome! I'm pretty much in the same boat, though I did tentatively expand to hats last year. Someday I will learn to read knitting patterns and branch out more.

Wow, you can knit hats?!That's awesome! I spent 4 months last winter knitting an extra-long striped scarf. Exhausting, but worth it.

I started doing vertical stripes because I sucked at turning and changing colors :)

I can only do scarves and hats. But you should try hats! They're really easy! You just knit in circles on round needles, do a bunch of K2togs or whatever as the pattern calls for, and you have a hat. (YouTube tutorials are super-helpful, too!)

I think I am going to try to knit a hat for this winter. It still seems way more complicated than a scarf, but let's do this!

(YouTube tutorials are my friends.)

YouTube tutorials are the best thing ever, if you want to improve!

Yes! That's how I started! I have to tell you I thought you were advising tutorials for tumblr and I got way too excited.

I mean, they probably exist, but I mostly use Tumblr for, like, Doctor Who gifs and unecessary-but-awesome Avengers art, so I wouldn't know...

lol. tumblr is so odd to me, the thing about youth culture is...I don't understand it.

I don't think Tumblr is exactly "youth culture" so much as an oddly specific subculture of internet/fandom denizens. There's stuff to "get," though, so I would appreciate not understanding it, I suppose.

Whenever I log in there are people talking about what class they have next period...and it makes me feel super old. Also, when I was in high school, if you had a cell phone or a beeper (remember those?) you were automatically labeled a drug dealer. And we didn't have laptops. I think I would fail high school if I had all these newfangled gadgets!!!!

Haha...A Punk Ass Book Jokey! ;) No grudges here...can I ask if you are offended by the comments in the show? I actually came across a Facebook page of Librarians wanting to boycott the show and I don't know if they were serious or not. It seemed like they were serious. :)

Knitting is something I wish I could do and I'm sure your friends love your effort. :)
