Life certainly has been hectic this semester. Not only am I taking classes and working on campus 20 hours a week, I'm also interning at The Morgan Library & Museum in NYC two days a week. Luckily, my two actual classes are somewhat easy to manage. My third one, Producing an Exhibition, is the headache. I'm getting class credit for producing an exhibition called "The Beauty of Sacred Garments." (It opens early September; I hope you can come see it.) I spend A LOT of time researching religions and talking with religious leaders about garments. It definitely helps that I like the people I'm doing this with. Tova and Jeanne have been utterly awesome. Somewhere during the week I find time to do homework and chores, and relax. Of course, relaxing usually falls at the bottom of the list . . .
But a respite is on the horizon! Next week is Spring Break. While I do have to work on campus some and in the city, I will be able to relax starting on Thursday! You know why? Because Matt is coming to visit for FOUR complete days! So, my goal for this next week is at least to get caught up on my various homework/class assignments (and hopefully get ahead) so that I can enjoy my time with my love. The BEST part is that we have absolutely nothing planned for when he is here. Well, sorta. Saturday night we're having some friends over for dinner. But other than that, we just want to hang out together, maybe watch some movies, eat Indian food and sushi . . . I cannot WAIT!!!!
Like this Spring semester, my summer is also turning out to be pretty full. In May I will spend ten whirlwind days in Paris visiting museums from the Louvre to the Pompidou Centre, doing the Seminar Abroad. I've managed to tack on a few extra days so that I can sojourn to Berne, Switzerland, to see Anna and Aaron. I'm definitely looking forward to the trip. Immediately after I return to the States, I'll be enrolled in Legal Issues, an online course that is required for my track, which lasts the month of June.
THEN, the first week of June, I start my internship at The Costume Institute's Library at The Met. I managed to secure another internship! Luck has certainly been on my side for that process. Tentatively, I'll work there 3.5 days a week from June to the end of July. (My Graduate Assistantship starts back up August 1.) I'm hoping that this schedule will allow me to take a long weekend back to Houston for bridal shower/bachelorette parties, etc.
