I agree with what you said about Johnny being the one most likely to leave, and would be able to manage on his own (how happy he'd be is another story). Ripp and Ophelia are both more dependant, on each other, and on Johnny. Ripp, especially, seems to rely on them as a sort of parental replacement in many ways.
Those are interesting ideas about what you think will happen, or hope will happen. I guess I shouldn't say too much about it at this point, but Ophelia is going to want to go back to help Nervous out. I've always imagined her doing that. She's going to want to keep her new family close.
This is how I've described Johnny in an upcoming chapter (you get a sneak preview - though it might change before I post it): His lithe, compact body was designed for that very purpose: to win. Johnny had put a lot of effort into it, but he was working with the right materials. His size was deceiving. Tall and thin, like a gangly teenager, but no part of Johnny's body was wasted.
I see him, not so much as appearing all that muscular, but what's there is mostly muscle. Like he has almost no body fat.
I imagine that Ripp is just average, and maybe just a little bit out of shape. Like he could be really well built if he put some effort into it, since the Grunts are naturally sort of stocky and muscular, but he puts no effort into it at all (of course). He just lucks into a decent shape through genetics and metabolism.
You know those three basic body types? Well, I sort of see them each being a different one of those. Ophelia (endomorph), Ripp (mesomorph), and Johnny (ectomorph).
I've obviously put way too much thought into this. :P
Yeah, I can't see Johnny be truly happy with Jayne. Like, I feel he could believe it for awhile (especially if he's pissed at both Ripp and Phi when he leaves), but I feel like he'd definitely grow unsatisfied and unhappy with her in time.
Ophelia's dependence is more subtle it seems. We know she needs them and Ripp knows it too probably, but I don't think Johnny really gets it entirely. Oh, and I'm not sure Ripp thinks that Ophelia needs HIM, but knows she at least needs someone.
Oh, I didn't mean that she'd mind being with Nervous. I just find it hard to imagine her willingly going back to live in Olive's house. I think she could, but would definitely have a hard time being back there.
Aw, I love how you described him. And yeah, it definitely suits him. It's too bad that the description and his actual body won't be the same though.
I really like that you think that much about your characters. It shows that you know them really well. One of my favorite parts of creating characters is changing up body types and sizes. I like to think that it adds to each character a little more.
