It took a little while for them all to get used to.
In the very beginning, they all tried to hide it. They lied. All of them. When Kairi caught Riku tangled in a heap with Sora, they hid their blushes and told her they were just fighting. When Sora found Kairi with her arms wrapped around Riku’s chest, she’d told him that it was just a friendly hug and that her shirt must have come unbuttoned without her noticing. And when Riku finally walked in on Kairi and Sora, topless and panting, he’d just laughed and sat down beside them both. They’d looked at him sheepishly and apologetically, before breaking out into nervous giggles.
“For how long?” He asked, feeling something tugging on his heart, but Kairi scooted closer to him and Sora’s hand was touching his and he pushed it back down. The two exchanged a small, shy glance.
“Long enough.” They both answered at the same time. Kairi shivered, he smiled warmly at her as he retrieved her tank top and helped her pull it over her head. She kissed him without thinking, pulling away quickly when she realized what she was doing. She flushed red. Looking at Sora with frightened eyes. He merely smiled softly at both of them.
“And you two?” He asked. Kairi looked at the ground, too embarassed to meet his eyes. Riku picked up the slack.
“About the same I guess.” He said with a nod.
“OH!” Kairi wailed, pulling herself away from both boys and burying her face in her hands, “You both must think I’m just...AWFUL! I’m so, so sorry! I just...Sora came to me and -” She looked at him, her eyes round and fat and full of shiny crystal tears. She jerked her head away from him to gaze at the other boy. “-and then Riku was just sitting there and he’d always been so...soo...” She sobbed. She bent down and grabbed onto her jacket, “I’ll just go! I’ve caused you guys enough trouble!” She turned to leave, when a hand wrapped around her wrist. She looked back to see Sora smiling at her. Big and reassuring and so very Sora-like. She melted just a little. “Sora...”
“Don’t cry, Kai!” He whispered comfortingly. She hiccuped as he pulled her closer, another hand wrapped itself around her waist. Together, Riku and Sora pulled her down to their level. Each boy kissed her on the cheek, wiping away tears as they did so.
Soon her cries stopped as the boys moved themselves closer to her.
“B-but...” She began as Riku lightly toyed with a strand of her hair. “Why?...I mean...Why aren’t you angry? I betrayed you both. I don’t deserve either of you.”
The two boys paused for a moment. Then Riku sighed loudly.
“Because, Kairi...We betrayed you too.”
With that, he reached towards Sora and kissed the brunette right on the mouth. Sora let out a small squeak as he settled into the kiss. When they finally broke apart, they turned to see Kairi grinning from ear to ear.
“So you mean...we were all lying to each other?” She smiled, sliding herself between the two boys. Sora turned to her, catching her lips and kissing her fiercely. She could feel Riku’s breath on her neck as he rested his head on her shoulder. Sora broke away and smiled.
“Guess so.” Sora whispered as he lay his head on her other shoulder. She breathed in deeply as he wrapped his arms around her, holding her tight. “Its just...I’ve been gone so long. I don’t want to lose either of you again. I thought...I thought that if I kept it a secret then I could have you both forever.” He snorted. “Guess that sounds kind of dumb.”
“No, Sora.” Riku told the younger boy. He gazed into sky blue eyes as delicate female hands played with his shiny silver hair. “That doesn’t sound dumb at all...actually...” He looked up at Kairi, she smiled as she finished for him.
“That sounds just right.”
