It is my honor to inscribe this missive to you, Comte.
In these troubled times, the populace takes solace in the arms of the Church and her servants. With the humble origins of many members of the First Estate, a quandary is encountered. Long has the Church encouraged a mentorship process, so that those unfamiliar with the intrigues of our society may find assistance in providing their charges with sufficient consolation. With the prominence of my family in secular matters, my participation in advisory matters is de rigueur.
With the exodus of my brother from Versailles, it has become especially important for me to serve the King and and preserve our families prominence. With the unfortunate accusations and the cloud that has descended over our name, I have become know as a sympathetic confessor for those whose beliefs may not conform to those of the the ministers of the kingdom.
I must make clear however, that my calling is sufficient to restrict me from sharing the identities of those who contact me directly. However, any conspirators they mention are, of course, unprotected.
