A whole new addiction

Thanks to ebay I will soon be the proud owner of two dramas:

One is Pride, which combines two of my loves, melodrama and hockey. It's Japanese and comes recommended by ginger001; as soon I saw the words hockey I knew I had to own it. dangermousie is this one you've seen ( Read more... )

dorama, twdrama, mars, peach girl

Haven't seen pride yet, but it's on my short list.

They never sell manga as a collected volume (even with 15 volumes, it would be a crazily thick book and some of them go for much longer. The manga on which Meteor Garden is based in 36 volumes). Sorry.

Re: anime. I understand. Not everyone's cup of tea. I honestly have no idea if I would have liked the live action version of it if I didn't like the anime one so much, but I would still think that the girl who plays the lead in that one cannot act.

I really recommend Goong, if you don't mind less angst.

I saw your pic spam of Goong...it looks great, though I am so fond of the angst that I am not sure. I should see what price it is on ebay, though.

I will look for some anime on youtube (I wonder if they have Peach Girl?) and see how I go after that.

They have PG on youtube. Goong should have some angst, but I am in early stages so it hasn't hit yet.

I looked for and at PG. I think probably the anime is not my thing...but I don't mind the glimpses I've got of the live one. This is probably because I have no taste.

Heeee. My biggest problem with the live action (other than it not having the same feel which won't bug you) is the two out of three leads can't act (the girl and one of the guys, not the one who was in MG). But enjoy! Maybe I should take another look at it.

Oh, I doubt it's worth another look. Seriously, I have no taste. :) Not that that I am abashed at that. And if they're all pretty enough I survive the terrible acting.

You have great taste. Because it's similar to mine :)

PG has nice eye candy. Well, the guy who plays the Kairi equivalent (forget his Chinese character name) is hot. The guy who plays the Touji equivalent is a bit on the gimpy side for me...

I always like anime up until the characters go into conniptions and do the swirly eye thingy to show emotions. That I cannot get over. Also, and this is going to sound weird, given that I do not know the language, some of the voice acting in anime cuts through me like a knife. But, as I've said before, I have no taste. And I think it's probably something that you've got to be spending a lot of time finding out what clicks before you suddenly realise how good it is.

Heeeee. See, I love the swirly eyes, and the chibi forms and all those other conventions. They make me gleeful.

PG has very average animation. It would be far from the one I'd suggest if I was going to animation quality, much as I adore the story (I'd suggest Gungrave if you want beautiful animation, serious story and no anime convention stuff at all (e.g. chibi or swirlies). It's sort of a scifi take on something like Godfather. Lots of angst. And violence).
