I just backed up my Livejournal account over at Greatest Journal and Insane Journal. I feel a bit embarrassed about this because doing this makes it seem like ( Read more... )

The problem with shorter manga is that the bulk of it falls thus:

1) Meant to be a huge, epic thing but didn't sell well so it got cancelled with a sloppy ending.

2) Meant to be only a few chapters but got popular and was made longer, but didn't have the story to maintain it's length.

There are, though, a fair number that are as long as they're meant to be. A lot of them tend to be rather light reads because the length doesn't allow for much deep development long the longer series do.

I wish they sold electronic versions of manga. Not as convenient as the paperpack for reading but buying 20 volumes of something and having to have it fill up my sadly overburdened shelf space is not so appealing...

there *hem* are far less than legal scanslations online. I never read them unless it's something there's little chance of my not buying myself, but...

(unless it's something that'll NEVER be licensed and released in the US)

If I can get something legally I like to do so as well. Especially in cases like this where you're trying to encourage them to release translated versions...

Oh well, I guess if I ever buy a place and have any money left over I can indulge and not worry about moving.

I don't mind Sophia Myles all that much myself. I didn't think her accent was all that bad in Tristan and Isolde but then I did spend most of that film muttering that Henry Cavill would have made a much better Tristan dammit and why was he playing second fiddle again?! He's very fine looking. *sigh*

I hate that film with a fiery passion. I think it might have been the savage Irish or possibly Tristan rowing magically from Ireland to England in mere hours without breaking a sweat. I think SM gets caught up in the general loathing a bit.

I don't hate her actually - I think she's pretty enough that she doesn't have to be very good as an actress. She can just stand around and aesthetically pleasing. :)

I'm with you on c). I spent time setting up Semagic so it can post both here and at IJ at the same time with one magic click. Not because I really think I'll be doing that, but because I find the technology fun.

I'm such a sheep... I guess if fandom vanishes from LJ (and it would have to show a lot more organization than I give it credit for) and everyone left I'd go there. But I hope that LJ just manages to sort out what it is they're intending to do, posts it and gets it all over with. This endless set of minor wanks is getting annoying.

I created one there (GJ) as well. I doubt I'll ever use it, but who knows, right?

I just want to be ready in case everyone migrates after the next HP kerfuffle. I just hope it's not like Ice Age and I'm that sloth thing that gets left behind... :)

I used the information here: http://brown-betty.livejournal.com/284083.html

If you just want it on your harddrive the first programme does that. You need the second to upload your archive onto another journalling site.
