Que Sera Sera: A Korean drama which (astonishingly!) sends me into conniptions

I don't think it is quite normal to watch anything and absolutely love the heroine but want to stab EVERYONE else. No exceptions, except for maybe the wily not quite son who loves heroine but is not her OTP ( Read more... )

hmm...do we know why first love is acting likethis?

*curious, as I've heard this one is good*

*jumps in*

He's acting like this because he's a playboy character who's never been truly in love with anybody before (he dates rich women for benefits in the beginning of the drama) and he doesn't quite understand why he feels as he does and he hates it. Basically, he's an idiot. :D

I think the reason I don't absolutely hate him, though, is the fact is that he's very honest to the heroine about his personality and how he is and why it'll never work out between the two of them. Love just sort sneaks up on him.

The thing is I sort of didn't mind as much when he broke her heart because he wanted the rich girl - I wasn't pleased, but I thought that he signalled what sort of person he was. It's the second and third time through, where he wants her enough to mess up her relationship with Not Quite Son but still wants the rich girl. And then when the heroine bounces back from that one he's still all 'don'tttt marrrryyyyy for it makes me drink too much.' And has no response when she sensibly points out that she's trying to get on with his life. Useless git.

Clearly I still have the rage. Th

Heee, I honestly can't defend Eric's character but I rather love the way he makes me so frustrated at the character and yet I sort of understand his reasoning. Like, he's very hopeless. And stupid, and wants everything to be easy and comfortable and he escapes the possibly difficult relationship with Eunsoo because he's a wussy like that. And yet he still loves her and they both suffer and woe. :(

I haven't watched beyond episode 11 at this point, though, so maybe my opinion would change. But honestly I'm rather attached to the OTP despite their awful hurty tendencies, or perhaps because of it.

Oh yeah, Javabeans has very good, lengthy episode summaries:

..in case you want to watch it to the end.

Thanks! It's not available online subbed past 14, so I'd have to buy the DVDs. I might give in and do so because I really, really like the heroine. Maybe if she runs over the hero in a car or something I might feel better.

Eric's character is interesting in a totally self absorbed way. And Eric is a good enough actor to make him appealling despite all the issues. The hate, however, really came to a peak in episode 13 (the last one I've seen).

I watched the first two episodes and really liked it, and then I read spoilers and got kinda 'hmmm' about it. I think I too would be sent into rage, so I'm going to pass on it for now.

The thing is that the actors are quite good and the lead actor, he of the wankerized moping, really does sell the character as best he can. It's just that the only really decent human being of the lot is the heroine but clearly the show wants me to have sympathy for the rest of them even though they don't deserve it.

But my primary hate is for hero and first love of heroine because he is not only a wanker but also mopey so he goes on about how bad he feels about it all.

Dammit, there really need to be a snappy word or phrase for this. All those situations where someone does something awful but then the story is all about their angst about the awful things they did, not the suffering of the people that they actually happened to. It's the Vampire Lestat thing, it's the Civil War Tony Stark thing, all those stories.

You are so right because it would make it so much easier to talk about.

The Germans must have a word for this! I should go and look in my dictionary... But for the moment I shall just call it wankerconscienceness.
