Stairway to Heaven: thank whatever diety you worship it's all over

Despite heading off to sports bar to see the Senators play the Ducks* in the Stanley Cup finals (becuase, sob, our giant TV, she is broken and had to be returned to manufacturer leaving us with small telly, which it is sadly no fun to watch) I finished this wretched drama.

This was, without a doubt, one of the most embarassing things I have ever watched, and I've watched some bad TV in my time. I watched every single episode of the WB's Tarzan, for heaven's sake. But this, this, exceeded all that by a factor of 5000%. It's like someone took all the plots of dramas that they had ever seen and just jammed them all in one show.

In the end, somehow she got eye cancer through the car accident which also gave her amnesia. I think we will all agree that was some pretty bad accident, even though she didn't have to go to hospital.

But although she goes blind, the rich guy does a mad surprise wedding in front of a giant audience, sister gets arrested (that had lots of crazy eye acting) for running her over 5 years ago, stepmother goes mad, useless father gets to give her away at this giant wedding. Then stepbrother decided (really! I am not joking about this)to kill himself so she could have his eyes. And hey presto, she can see again! But still she is dying! Oh woes! This results in many, many scenes of people weeping in various locations. Sometimes they cry buckets, sometimes just single tears trickle down their cheeks. Whatever crying strategy they are going for, they never get red eyes or have their make-up run.

There's some ghastly dying scene in a very important beach house and then the hero plays his piano on the beach. Seriously, the last scene is of him playing this giant old white grand piano which has been placed on the sand. I am not sure if this meant he was abandoning the playing of music forever because his one true love had died or just the result of a poorly planned move. Cue swelling music and me regretting wasting those hours of my life.

*While I am glad the Senators won, there were some terrible calls in that game. I am completely puzzled by many of the penalties the Ducks got - and trust me, I don't support them, even though I like Selanne and Giguere.

ETA: If you haven't yet, go make your own Asian drama below! I am amused by how many of you think they should meet when the heroine punches the hero in the face and also want the hero to express his angst through violence. Also, psychic librarians are clearly the drama heroine of choice.

dorama, hockey, kdrama, stairway to heaven
