I wish everyone wrote on here more often. It's become a ghost town. :(
I've not been up to much lately. Just a bunch of blah and nothing super new to write about.
Addie is 13 months old now, and her vocabulary is absolutely bursting. She says please (or, peas in Addie-speak) when she wants something. She says coffee when mom picks up her coffee cup. When someone has hot food she says hot and touches it, and then she says ow when she realizes that wasn't the best idea. She says Gabba! when she sees her favorite show on Netflix. She says kitty without the "t" sounds and rounds up all of her stuffed cats several times a day (they're her favorite toys!). She says ba for bottle, and she says bink when she wants her binky. Her favorite word is daddy, and even though she knows that I'm mommy, she calls me daddy anyway sometimes. Her favorite things are kitties, Yo Gabba Gabba, and my niece, Hailie. They're like two little peas in a pod. She loves to read books and dance to any music playing. Her favorite foods are bananas and whatever I happen to be eating at the time. She's an expert at climbing up onto things and getting down again, and is quickly learning how to outsmart any obstacles we put up to keep her out of everything. She loves playing outside and absolutely freaks out when she sees pictures of dogs or other babies, screaming "ARF! ARF! ARF!" and "BABY! BABY!" She HATES being told no, and grabs/pinches faces and headbutts when she's mad. She loves being naked and will, 100% of the time, take her diaper off if she's not wearing something over it. She has a wonderful sense of humor and I see more and more of her personality emerge everyday. It's awesome.
We're going to start experimenting with potty training when she's around 15 months because we can tell even now that she knows when she's gone to the bathroom and does not, in any way, like to keep her diaper on when she has. I've read that some kids will potty train well at 15 months, so it's worth a shot. We will not be forcing her into anything she doesn't want to do and isn't ready for, but I think she's showing a lot of the signs that she would catch on quickly. If she doesn't, then we'll stop and try again at a later time.
She's completely off of formula, which is awesome. Had I been able to breastfeed, I would have done so for far longer, but I don't want her to be dependent on a bottle like that. We're in the process of weaning her off of the bottle itself, but it's a tough process. She only gets milk or water, and only when she's going to sleep. I find that she's gotten a bit more dependent on the binky since we started taking her off of the bottle, which sucks, but I don't want to take away too much at once. It makes me sad in some ways, because this is another instance where breastfeeding trumps everything and we wouldn't be dealing with this if my body produced like it should have. Blah.
We're going to the Ft. Wayne Zoo on the 22nd with Heather, Miles, and Benny for the Halloween thing they have. I'm really excited about that. We're going to make Addie a pickle chip costume that I think will be adorable. I can't wait.
Other than that, I haven't been doing much aside from reading, and I'm sure no one wants to read about that.
How is everyone else doing?
