Yesterday was such a blessing! It was Youth Sunday in the adult worship service, so basically the GCF Youth L.I.V.E. (Youth Living In Vision of Eternity)took over everything, from worship & song leading to stage managers and projectionists.Sooo tiring but it was a lot of fun!
Youth band + youth p&w team + youth choir = one rockin’ praise & worship! We introduced two Hillsong songs: What the World Will Never Take & Take All of Me, and of course since we were leading adults into worship we put Awesome God, Majesty & Shout to the Lord into the line up.I think Pao should have remembered that there were a couple of… chronologically challenged people who aren’t used to standing for long periods of time… like my dad.He said his back ached after two songs… ^_^’
A total of 18 youth were baptized yesterday! PTL!Some of their testimonies were really heart-wrenching, and their declaration of choosing to trust Jesus as their Savior and Lord was a great blessing-some of the parents were crying also. While they were being baptized by Pastor Herbert (lovingly nicknamed PH by the youth), the Youth Choir sang Trust and Obey, which was a hymn composed in 1887… not exactly youthful, is it? :Pbut even though I had a hard time teaching them the notes, it turned out really beautiful.
Afterwards, they played the Youth L.I.V.E. video (made by rj), which promoted the 5 teams in the youth ministry:
Worship-exalting the Lord through music, singing & prayer
Missions-spreading the Good News through outreaches, medical missions trips, and creating awareness of unreached people groups in other countries
Fellowship-involves activities (basketball, badminton, streetdance, volleyball ministries) wherein people can gather to learn more about God’s Word and have fun at the same time
Discipleship-the youth can have mentors or people who will guide them in their walk with God, and in turn be trained and prepared to mentor other youth
Service-committed to helping out the other teams with their promotional needs through Channels (Youth L.I.V.E. official publication), videos, banners & the future Youth L.I.V.E. website.
Pastor Ro did the message on Fruitbearing Disciples based on John 15.To show an example, he called the Groove Core Fellowship (dance ministry headed by Jungee Marcelo & Kim Dan) onstage and they danced to a hip-hop version of You Are Good.Naaliw ako sobra kay bj because he joined the dance ministry to overcome his fear of dancing, and he did really well! We’re so proud of you, bj! ^_^It was really inspiring, especially since these past few weeks I’d been feeling a little discouraged about teaching the choir because of my lack of musical training… but God worked wonders yesterday, and through the encouragement of a lot of people, I wasn’t as stressed out as I thought I’d be, hehe.It was tiring, but ultimately we all enjoyed being part of this memorable day.God’s grace has healed many hearts and changed the lives of the youth, and it gives me great joy to see these people singing, playing & dancing and speaking on stage-not to bring attention to themselves but to use their talents to give all the glory back to God.^_^
In other news… Happy birthday to Faith and Karen’s future mother-in-law-er, I mean, Tita Boots! :PBelated happy birthday to Kuya Api and Tom!Advanced happy birthday to Art, Karen, (ahia) Mike and RJ!
Lyrics to the song in the youth video:
Tell The World That
Hillsong United - Look To You (2005)
Don’t want to stand here and shout Your praise
And walk away and forget Your name
I’ll stand for You if it’s all I do
‘Cause there is none that compares to You
‘Cause all I want in this lifetime is You
And all I want in this whole world is You
Tell the world that Jesus lives
Tell the world that, tell the world that
Tell the world that He died for them
Tell the world that He lives again
No longer I but Christ in me
‘Cause it’s the truth that set me free
How could this world be a better place
But by They mercy and by Thy grace
C’mon, c’mon we’ll tell the world about You
