SO. Crunch time is official 1:30 AM.
This is a work-related rant, so if you don't care for it, feel free to stop reading here.
Expo is on Wednesday. The creative agency has been pret-t-y late with our brochure layout.
Draft #1. They took our previous brochure layout (which we rushed last time too, but I wasn't in charge of it so I got to see it too late), changed the fonts a bit, made the background of one side red. The cover had our new food pictures.
DOOD. You're a CREATIVE AGENCY. Mix things up a little, make things spicier. LOSE THE ARIAL and stiffboring justify. Making the whole background RED does not count as a revision. And haven't you heard of column span? Just because it's a 3-paneled brochure doesn't mean you have to justify all your text down the panel. It's not a newspaper.
So I emailed my comments, added/spell-checked some text, suggested using watermarks, even sketched a new layout for them to give them a better idea of how I wanted elements arranged.
Draft #2. Okay, so they changed the text and added a picture. THAT'S IT. Still boring white text on red background. Still same font size and paragraph spacing in stiffboring justify down the columns. Didn't fix the misaligned pictures. UGH THERE WAS NO SENSE OF BALANCE. How embarrassing would it be--a Japanese restaurant with a brochure so disorganized?! DDD:
UGH so I took the liberty of Photoshopping their jpg preview myself just a while ago, which I would have done for the first draft if not for the fact that the PS at the office [opens, but] doesn't work no matter how many times I reinstall it. And this time I sent them the edited jpg previews, plus the psd files so they can intently scrutinize the layout details that I put/want.
SO, you overpriced creative agency, there's nothing creative about the drafts you sent! BUT we have to stick with you because we started with you already and it's too late to change and we have to send it to the printer ASAP so we can have the brochures ready by TUESDAY AFTERNOON at the latelatelatest. AND you'd better not overcharge us for overtime labor (overtime my butt--you send your layouts a few minutes before workday end, and I'm editing your layout at 2AM Saturday morning!) and a layout you didn't even do!
I. am disappointed and NYAAAR.
But oh, I just remembered the Chai Latte from CBTL I had a while ago, and that made me warm and fuzzy. :3
Aaaaaand...
IT'S KAREN'S BIRTHDAY TODAY! :DDDDDD
Happy Birthday to my dear spoiled, cute, stressed, un-athletic, corny, demanding, sassy, nerdy sister!!!
I LOVE YOUUUUUU!!! ♥♥♥♥♥
