Talk about a quandary.
I rush home last night so my wife and I can go to a Weight Watchers meeting. We get there in plenty of time, but the meeting's been canceled. So we decide to go to dinner across the street at Cozymel's. We normally grab a booth in the bar, since service is good and it's not as noisy as the rest of the place. Well, no booths, but several bar tables are empty, so we grab one. A couple of pitchers of Margarita's please, and some tableside guacamole and chips makes a good start. See why we were going to a WW meeting?
A little into dinner - roast pork with rice & beans & vegetables, yum! - I see a couple that looks familiar, sitting a few tables over. Hmm, let me rephrase that. I see two people who look familiar. One of them works on my floor, and the other works on campus. She is married to another co-worker, and he is married ... or not. You can see where I'm going with this, right?
After getting enough of a look to know that they are who they are - I've got a side-on view of them - and not sure if they've seen us, I mention it to my wife. I don't know whether I should stop by their table and say hi, or not. But before I can make up my mind, they are gone from the table. I see her heading towards the restrooms, but I don't see him anywhere. Now, I'm sitting just to the right of the door, which is not at all usual for me. I figure I'll say hi as they leave, save us all having to have a conversation. But when she leaves the restroom, she doesn't walk past us. Instead, she walks along the side by the booths and out a side exit. He walks past the bar behind us and out the main door, not passing in front of my line of sight, and meets up with her outside.
So, maybe I'm just imagining things, but I think I just participated in the second season of a soap opera. I certainly don't mind if they're doing each other - she's a damn fine looking woman, and he's not too bad himself - but it is so funny that they decided to hook up at a restaurant where I would never have been on a Monday night if we hadn't decided to go to skip WW Sunday and go Monday. Lot's of if onlys.
