Today I returned my vibrams for 70% of what I paid for them. They made me incredibly happy, these shoes. I loved wearing them because I could work in them and go to the gym and everything, and they had pretty decent grip and I had TOES! I could open drawers with my feet. (This is a useful ability when your job involves putting away dishes as fast as possible.) They looked awesome, too.
But they were a size or two too small, and they hurt like hell to wear. I thought I was just adjusting to them, but no, no, they were definitely too small, and I have the purplish big toe to prove it. If the store had had the next size up, I would absolutely have exchanged them. But they didn't. So I spent a little more than $25 net for the privilege of having painful swollen feet for three days, and I am crying my eyes out about it. Considering the things in the past few weeks that I haven't cried much about, that's saying something. Either I'm just tired, or it's not really about the shoes. (Or I'm a really awful shallow person, also possible.)
Nap, then shopping. If I can find the shoes I want in the right size, this will all be better. But I think sleep is more urgent.
