So you need Female Lead to get the Amulet (capitalized) from the invisible planet because she's the only singer in the universe who has the right voice print to unlock the room it's in. But if she screws up the song, then the bad guys kill your dad, and throw at least one planet into political turmoil. Has to be exactly perfect. And you've had the music since before you met her. It's sitting in shiny space-age mp3 and pdf on your ship's computer. Did it ever occur to you that she might want to practice?
I can see the big reveal coming, but why hasn't Female Lead insisted on, you know, a dress rehearsal, in a room where the echo of a single wrong note will not kill her? Also, this is not my biggest problem with this book. I'm going to sleep. Full review if I ever bother finishing.
