Today was very up-and-down. Went to student health services to discover my head's full of fluids in various cavities. So what do I get? Robitussin and generic Sudafed, of course. At least they didn't give me their special throat-numbing elixir (gunk I personally think is skimmed off the River Styx) or Guaifinex. And Dr. Stephanie recognizes me now. Yay?
I also spent the afternoon with Courtney, an occasion much missed. I had my first real sushi with her and Megan at Little Tokyo. Fried rice: yay. Crunch roll: yay. Eel roll: NAY. The service there was awesome too. I didn't think it got better than Kuroshika. But the guy even remembered our names and chased down Megan when she forgot her take-out box! Man.
I've been dozing off at intervals while reading Chekhov (BIG surprise, no?) and chatting with Sassafrass and Andrew. For a while I could hear the tornado sirens in the background while talking to Andrew. He ended up stranded at Wesleyan until 8:30ish when the warning ended. Katrina's a crazy ho of nature.
So far my refund check hasn't flown into oblivion... most of my purchases have been items of substance. Well, the Fruits Basket holographic poster-thingie and floor lamp weren't substantial per se, but they're 'beautifying.' I've also accumulated a decent selection of cheeses for an upcoming lasagna. The queso quesadilla melting cheese I got for tortilla chips, however, does not MELT. It separates into grease and hot globulous dairy snot, but no melting into dip-worthy fluid. Pfft. That's what I get for buying cheese with a donkey on the label.
The parents are visiting in two weekends. I have a brass bowl I'm going to put a candle and potpourri in for Mommy's birthday, even though it's late in September. I think Daddy wants me to give it to her in person.
Crap. I just realized why Student Health didn't give me Guaifenex. It's in the Robitussin! Damn them! Guaifenesin Syrup, USP. Heh. You win this round, you wicked nurses.
I guess I should catch up on reading... and eke out a draft on my favorite prose work. Geh. I have to find my favorite prose work first. Poo. Maybe I'll lie and pick a passage from Flannery O'Connor. >.< Or not.
