Day 1
So, Day 1 for Leah teaching full time was a interesting to say the least.
1. My first period kids didn't think I was really their teacher for the rest of the year and treated me as a daily sub. (I made sure they were aware that i AM their teacher for the remainder of the yeah, and as such, the ones that decided that they just weren't going to do anything will suffer the consequences. (i haven't decided what these consequences are yet).
2. Kinda freaking out about the units i have to plan (specifically the research project.--not so good at that stuff yet)
3. LOTS of offers for help, which was freaking awesome! So the freaking out over number 2 not so necessary.
4. planned something with my 12 grade class (college research and study skills) that she had already done. (oops, my bad). So I totally pulled something out of my ass and made a pretend college schedule and had them plan when they thought they might study. I think they had fun with the class at least.
5. Utterly exhausted. do NOT want to to go to the BN for a closing shift. (grrrrrr)
6. Tomorrow should be easier, as I only have to give out a test in all three of my classes. (in-class essay on Shanedoah, which i need to rent since i have never seen it).
7. It is SOOOOO much harder to BS your way through an 80 minute class as opposed to a 40 minute one. Leah will be learning a LOT in the next few months!
