I really must be a huge loser. I made an entry last night before going to bed, and now I'm making one right after waking up.
I have been addicted to listening to the song "Floods" this morning, so I decided that I would talk about it for a little bit. A livejournal friend of mine earlier talked about this being a beautiful song. As lame as it sounds for a guy to call something beautiful, I have to admit that it is a beautiful song. It is probably one of the most simple songs ever written, but you can tell that Pantera was really just trying to write some good sounding music instead of trying to blow their fans away with their playing ability. Dimebag is one of the best song writers in the world when it comes to the guitar. I was saying this even before he died. I wasn't that big of a fan when I first listened to a Pantera album all the way through, but I was really impressed with Dimebag's playing. He has pulled off better stuff by himself than most bands could with 2 or three gutiarists. I even mentioned this to my ex after first listening to the Cowboys from Hell album. She agreed with me. A lot of crap was mentioned about Dimebag when he died due to Pantera having such an aggressive sound and style of lyrics. I myself know very little about what kind of person Dimebag was in real life, but from the few interviews I saw of him you could tell that he was happy with life and was doing what he loved. Not a lot of peole can say that.
I think I'm done for now. I haven't started recording any of my own music this weekend, so I need to get a start. Adios.
