I am working this weekend, and wanted to make sure everyone had a fun Halloween. So we got together with another group home for dinner and games.
Appetizers:
Boogers on a stick (pretzels dipped in green cheese)
Caterpillar slices (banana slices with peanut butter between sections and pretzel legs)
Eyeballs (open face Oreos with icing)
Dinner:
Witch's Hat (shaped crecent rolls)
Skeleton Stew (jumbo elbow pasta, ziti, and meat sauce)
Jack-o-Lanterns (mashed sweet potatoes baked in small tins, everyone made a face on their own using marshmallows and pecans)
Dessert:
Graveyard (Large pan of chocolate pudding and crumbled cookies, top was decorated with a pile of cookie crumbs and a tombstone to look like a fresh grave. Green coconut grass and gummi worms used around the edges)
For games we had a Monster Mash freeze dance competition, a costume charade parade, armless apple snatch, and the Time Warp.
We also expected to have lots of trick-or-treaters, but we had NONE. Maybe because there were 2-3 adults in costume standing at the sidewalk shouting "here they come, get ready" whenever any kids approaced, but everyone who would have come to our house crossed the street to pass on the other side. And there were not many kids to begin with. I think the ladies were pretty disappointed about that, even though it means we have lots of leftover candy.
Overall, it was a lot of fun, and since we stayed at the house it was a lot less stress than going out would have been. But I'm tired, so it is a good thing that we get an extra hour of sleep tonight.
