Still not 20 hours a week...

Well, I think they are finally done messing with my hours...at least for now.

I started off with 12 hours a week, afternoons only, spread over four days (Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday, and Friday). That worked out pretty well for the minimum amount of guaranteed hours I was getting, as well as taking open morning and afternoon shifts whenever they were available.
Then, earlier this week, I noticed that my name was not anywhere to be found on the schedule for either of the next two Fridays. When I inquired about this I was informed that I no longer had the Friday afternoon shift because Carlo (one of my supervisors) had forgotten that he already promised the spot to someone else about a week before I started working there. How it could have taken nearly a month for anyone to realize this problem and fix it though, I have no idea. So now I was left with only a guaranteed 9 hours per week. Needless to say, I was not too thrilled by this.
Since I am only making minimum wage with this job, the news of reduced hours was a bit disappointing (even though I think Washington has the highest minimum wage nationwide: $7.16).
As always though, there was a momentum shift for the better recently (and by "recently" I mean yesterday). When the afternoon shift ended, Carlo came into the break room and asked to talk with me. I was pretty worried about what he wanted to talk about because I thought I had broken one of the locks on top deck earlier. If I haven't mentioned it yet, those locks cost $5,000 a piece...pretty damn expensive for being so feeble. As it turns out though, that wasn't the case. Instead of mentioning anything about locks, Carlo told me that there was a permanent morning shift available and asked if I was interested in taking it. Starting next week I will be working 3 days a week (Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday), both morning and afternoon shifts for a grand total of 18 hours per week. Add to that the fact that today marks another pay day and you can see that things are looking up again.

On another note: 3 hour intervals of sleep every 10 or so hours does NOT do the body good.
