Rosy Maple Moth Dryocampa rubicunda.

saw this cutie in Maine a few years back

they are fun!

I THINK this is the moth I used to see occasionally back when I was growing up down in Mississippi!

We have several maples in our yard. I reckon I'll have to do a moth survey one night next summer and see what comes to a backlit sheet.
By the way, how are your carnivorous plants doing?

I got really sick over the summer and lost all my venus flytraps and Sarracenias. I was very upset about that. But my nepenthes are doing great and I'll probably concentrate just on those since I seem to be good at them. I miss the Sarrs and hope to try again with them one day. I lost some rare ones.

That's the problem with being either a gardener or a livestock owner: When you get too sick to care for your plants or your animals, there's not too many that can or will do the job for you.
