so this weekend was.. decent

i went to south street and the sixers game with rob, jess, and jess' dad on friday night. the game was awesome. especially c-webb. and the dancer's dance to "seven nation army", which made rob jealous.

then on saturday we had mock trial finals. we lost, and im positive that we lost as a result of a mix-up in time scoring. but i wont complain. we did well. the other team did well. they just ran about 3 or 4 minutes over in time, but those penalties were given to us. it would have, in the end, given us a higher score than them. but i promised not to dwell. so i wont. jess came over after to cheer me up. then matt and greg came over that night.

then today was the old age home. jess came to help me out.

im sorry if this entry was totally void of emotion.

ThenThereWerNone: (we were defense)
ThenThereWerNone: after the plaintiff's second witness and before the defense's first, the bailiff announced the times as, quote, "defense has used 14 minutes. defense has used 9 minutes" (he said defense both times. we knew that the 14 minutes was the plaintiff because they directed zimmerman for 9 minutes)
ThenThereWerNone: then, i go as the second witness, because my teammates knew that i would run their clock down
ThenThereWerNone: then the bailiff held up the 1 MINUTE sign during my direct! i was scared as hell, so we hurried up really fast, cut out alot of stuff, and finished under
ThenThereWerNone: but then it was time for me to be crossed, and i knew in my mind that they only had 6 minutes to do d'arcy and i, and they spent 4 minutes on d'arcy
ThenThereWerNone: so i figured "hey, i only have two minutes left, ill run them way over".
ThenThereWerNone: i talk, and talk, and talk, until at one point the kid says to the judge "objection, your honor, he's eating my time"
ThenThereWerNone: he judge told me to shorten my answers, and i did, but i still took extremely long. especially when he asked to "confer with his counselors" at one point, i knew i ran them over. but i realized.. i never saw the bailiff hold up any time cards
ThenThereWerNone: then he finished my cross, and i was so happy cuz i saw on the clock that i had taken at least 5 minutes
ThenThereWerNone: then he finished my cross, and i was so happy cuz i saw on the clock that i had taken at least 5 minutes
ThenThereWerNone: the bailiff uses two stopwatches to countdown time. one for plaintiff, one for defense. i am %100 positive that he switched them, because we should have had more time than we did, and they should have had much less time.
ThenThereWerNone: and i was pissed, but what got me even more pissed was that they said the margin of them beating us was generally one point on each ballot- something that wouldnt have happened had we had enough time, and had they had the time penalties
ThenThereWerNone: and we couldnt argue it cuz theres only one bailiff, and of course he believed he was right. but there was no way he could have been.
ThenThereWerNone: MY COACH: "how were the times?" BAILIFF: "dont worry. you were 10 seconds over, but theres no penalty" ME: "what about the other team? they were way over" BAILIFF: "no, the other team finished a minute under"
ThenThereWerNone: its bull. cuz my coach even kept time and said they were 4 minutes longer

alright. im tired. and i have to go read gulliver's travels. hasta luego.
