Being in Massachusetts, I forget that there are local companies who make great products. Up until recently I was a Lush addict, buying any and all my products there. To some degree, they work and they work amazingly. However, there are just as good - if not better - product that is made local and is also natural (either 100% or very close to it). So I went on an expedition of sorts and have come to realize that I've been missing out on some wonderful things.

Firstly, Summerhouse Soaps from Cape Cod deserves a special shout out. My skin is relatively normal for the most part, except for times when it gets dry. It itches like crazy and sometimes leaves my legs irritated. I bought their Orange Buttermilk soap a few weeks ago, and it has worked wonders. I can't tell you how nice it is to feel my elbows and not touch rough skin or itch my legs all the time because they're so dry.  I asked my mom for more soap from them and as an early Christmas present I've received Green Tea Lemongrass and Nantucket Sea Clay. All their soaps have olive oil in them and are either cocoa butter or shea butter based.

There's also a cool soap company located in Plum Island, and I've only been to their shop once. They have similar products to Lush (although Lush has tons of different cleansers and the like) but there's something very unique about them too. I haven't tried any of their stuff yet but my mom purchased some of their lip balm and has been singing its praises.

In particular, I want to try the following:

They have a soap called Unruly Patchouli which I've smelled and it's very close to Lush's "Karma" (which is comprised of orange peel and patchouli).
