OMG! This is monumental- I actually laughed during Battlestar Galactica. Naturally, Buck 'n Helo would run into a professional Pyramid team that they just so happened to recognize from TV. Speaking of, I absolutely adore the dynamic between those two- as much as Kara/Lee is my OTP, the longer this series goes on, the less suited I think they are for each other (at least at the time being.)
I mean, imagine the reunion. They are both ostensibly on Roslin's "side," but Kara, despite her attitude, is much more military-minded than Lee. Adama is the real kicker here: his actions before Kara returns (if she does) will determine where she ends up, and how she ends up reacting when faced with a deeper treason.
Anyway, my point is that Starbuck's going to be happier with someone that isn't a frakking wreck, and though I imagine in better times Lee's actually somewhat good natured, look at all the shit Helo's put up with and still managed to joke around through. Makes the Anders character a little gratuitous in my mind, but then you've got Caprica!Boomer.
And oh, Boomer. And Cally! Galactica!Boomer's death actually made me cry a bit- by the end of it I felt for her so strongly that it seemed like her shooting Adama victimized her, not him. And as far as Tyrol goes, I highly doubt the Chief would ever betray the fleet knowingly, but it's be real interesting to see how he reacts when faced with more Sharons. There's no doubt in my mind that he'd be sorely tempted by the option of having his dead girlfriend back in the right set of circumstances.
Dualla, I thought, was excellent in this episode. I'm really glad that we're getting to see more of her, and the sedition-brewing between her and Lee was beautifully played. All signs lead to Dee being exposed, though, even if Gaeta did cover for her. And speaking of- WTF? I would love to get inside that boy's head.
Plus, Billy, seriously. Who are you kidding? You know you're staying 'cause you'll never see your girlfriend again. Though, on the other hand, the Billy is a Cylon theory has got a hell of a lot more weight now.
Is anyone keeping track of the number of human cylon models we've actually seen? I count four- Leoben, Doral, Six, and Sharon. That leaves four faces, right? Plenty of room for Billy and Gaeta, though I sincerely hope that's not the case for either.
On a more serious note, one of the most amazing things about BSG is that you have no idea whose side you're on. Am I rooting for Captain Tightass a little? Yes, because I think that morally, he's correct, and that when government abuses the trust placed in it, it's the responsibility of the people to rise up. However, in a situation like the fleet is in, inciting a revolution is irresponsible to the highest degree. Not to mention handing all the cards over to someone like Zarek, who has little regard for "collateral damage" and would happily execute the opposition if he gained power.
It gets to the point where BSG is hardly even "entertainment." After Atlantis and SG-1, with all the snarky humor, when BSG comes on I feel like I'm not even watching TV- it's like getting a report from a battlefront, where nothing you're hearing is anything you particularly want to hear but it's something you need to know.
Except when Kara whips boys at contact sports, and finds time to snipe at poor Helo when they're under heavy fire. That's entertainment.
