Friday Night Lights

LOVED IT! Plain and simple, for me it was the best episode of the season. The interactions felt spot on and true to the characters I have come to know and love in season 1.

Julie--for once this season she did not irritate me! I felt like she was still a bit of a rebellious, angry teenager, but she has finally found some control over that you know? She's not totally alienating everyone around her.

Landry--starting a brawl, telling Tyra what for. For real, he is amazing.

Coach--Amazing. I loved how much fun he was having with Tim and I can only imagine that is how he would behave with his own son. Not that he does not appreciate and love Julie and now Gracie, but you can tell he'd love a boy in the family, to equal the genders as it were. I can't remember how he phrased it last night but it had me laughing.

TIM--oh man. Love that boy SO SO much. I was so glad to see a Tim-centric episode where he really did grow and develop as a character. Yes, he's still the flirt but he is also the protector, the champion, the vulnerable guy. Taylor Kitsch is really bringing Tim's character to new levels. And of course, he is HOT HOT HOT! I'd totally be watching him do sit-ups too. :D

All in all, I was just really impressed with the episode. I feel like the show is finding its place again. I hope next week's episode proves to be just as good. I know I haven't touched on everything I enjoyed about last night's FNL but for real, it was all win for me.

Went and saw National Treasure Book of Secrets today.
I liked it, not as much as the first, but I did enjoy it. I felt it got kind of long and draggy in parts and some parts just seemed to move like molasses, aka, very slow.

Riley was a total cutie again though I did feel like he didn't have as much of a role to play this time around. He seemed kind of extraneous to the whole movie. He was the tech guy again but not much else.

The Library of Congress stuff was of course fabulous. :)

All in all, a fun Saturday movie.

Now I'm settling in for a rewatch of FNL and some reading. I finished O Pioneers! by Willa Cather a few days ago and seriously, I actually liked it. Not the best book I've ever read but I can see why it is considered classic American literature. She pens great descriptions of the hardships of farming and life in the Midwest.

I'm currently reading Bronx Masquerade by Nikki Grimes for my YA class which starts next week. It's ok, though some of the poetry in it is very well done and things I can relate to.

I don't want to go back to school next week. At all. I mean, on the one hand I am excited for my classes. But the thought of all the work makes me cringe. I keep telling myself only four more classes and then I'm done, but when it's winter like this, the skies are gray, the weather is cold, and it is dark still rather early, it just makes motivation hard I guess.

Didn't do as well as I would have liked this week with my goals of losing weight. I didn't pig out on sweets or anything this week but I just didn't incoporate enough heatlhy items into my meals. Fruits and veggies are going to be my downfall and I have to find a way to like them more. Also today I rather pigged out on cheese popcorn from Candyland Store which makes fabulously amazing cheese popcorn, the ONLY popcorn I will eat. I know popcorn in the grand scheme of food is not that awful for you but it's not the best choice either. Must be stronger. A handful is all I need.

Phew, this entry is full of cuts. I hope you are all having a nice weekend! I'm enjoying every last drop of my freedom before school starts. I'm also trying to reply to comments. I know I haven't been the best about that lately. It is something I'm going to work on more in the New Year.
