I guess I am a bit slow on posting blog stuff - but that's ok since I'm pretty sure only 2 people ever read my blog :)
California - I had a pretty good trip to California. I thought I was going to go to Santa Barbara, but I really only got to see that lovely city for like... 2 hours. I actually stayed with my mom's friend near Solvang. Solvang is one of those "bavarian village" tourist towns in the middle of wine country. I had a pretty relaxing time there. I went into several dozen little shops full of artsy-craftsy-gifty stuff. In one, I fell in love with this wooden duck (I'm a big duck fan), and my mom's friend bought it for me as part of a(n early) graduation gift. Of all the places that I saw in California, I'd say that wine country was the prettiest (though none come ANYWHERE near as beautiful as the Pacific NW!).
Palmdale wasn't so bad. I thought it equally pretty as the LA area. Less dirty, more brown - a tradeoff. The wedding was really nice. It was on a ranch in the middle of nowhere. Other than the fact that it was really windy, the wedding went perfectly and the reception (all 4 1/2 hours of it) was fun. It was cool meeting all of my boyfriend's family. They were all really nice, and his parents were really generous letting me stay at their house during all the craziness.
Magic Mountain was great too. We were planning on going on Monday, but then Sunday morning the phone rings at 10am, and it's my boyfriend's boss letting us know that Magic Mountain isn't open on Monday... so we have to haul ass and get there. Even though we got their late, it was a total blast. $25 - 16 rides. I'd say it's worth it. AND we got to walk straight on all but 3 of the rides! And some of them we didn't even have to get off of - we could go around them multiple times. Sad to say I was a bit of a wimp after the Batman though. I practically passed out twice on that ride.
So, overall, California is brown, dirty, overpopulated and overpriced - and all that because it's sunny most of the year. Give me green and wet over that anyday ;).
