Activism Fail

Jun 20, 2011 12:25

Well, I suppose a single email doesn't accomplish much. I just got this in my inbox from the greatergood people who do the whole click to feed the hungry, vaccinate kids, etc. It's a coupon for me if I buy at their store plus...

"Shopping at The Autism Site store generates charitable contributions to help kids on the spectrum, too. For each item you purchase, up to 50% of its retail price is given to the cause--at no extra cost to you. These contributions help Lekotek provide interactive therapy, support the Helping Hand Program through the National Autism Association and fund research projects approved by Autism Speaks. Click here to shop the array of deals that support families living with autism."

So, yeah, maybe before they weren't officially working with Autism Speaks, but now they are. This likely needs a fairly large write-in campaign to have any effect, but I'm rather upset to see this.

Edit: Sent an email to press@theautismsite.com - not the best email, but at least it's something and registers deep disapproval. Hopefully people with better ability to discuss the issue will do so as well. I also don't know what the right contact email is, but that seemed like the best guess. *shrugs* They don't have any info on their contact us or FAQ page on who to contact when you notice they've aligned themselves with evil and want to complain.
