When she babbles, she babbles!

Time for the wonderful update that I had promised earlier today before the thunderstorms rolled through and forced me to shut my computers down for a little while. A lot of things have been going on, some good, and some bad. I want to wish a belated birthday to all the July people who I didn't get to wish 'em to, and happy birthdays to all of the August people too, yaay!

As far as money situations go, I'm open for commissions of all kinds. Not that anyone's probably interested, but I can be hopeful, can't I? If anyone is curious to know if I can make a certain something, just ask. Anything from jewelry and dreamcatchers, to spirit sticks and staffs and on to web pages and business cards, among other graphical stuff. Yeah. And artwork. There's always artwork. I'm a multi-talented and multi-tasking wolpard, I am.

Mom finally got all the paperwork approval for the workmen's comp so she could have her knee looked at. She's got torn meniscus and needs to have surgery. That comes next week. Luckily it isn't nearly as bad as either of my knees were, and she should have a real short recovery time. I'm going to help her with her resume and revamp my own and see if we can get these puppies posted somewhere so we can get some nice income flowing. Classes start real soon. I am dreading the math. But I don't want to think about that right now. Have too much else going on to worry about the bane of my educational existence.

Mom's friend Patty has helped me out a lot. I'd seen her before my NY trip and told her about my garden and pond, and she said she had some plants she'd give me when I came back. Some jasmine and a handful of other goodies. But when I came back and she heard the horror story about everything dying, she insisted we come up during the weekend and get plants. And did she give me plants! WOW! We should have brought the truck rather than mom's car! Luckily we had enough room for it all, just barely. blashamma was also VERY kind and has been extra helpful. He gave me some goodies too! Not only that, but he came over and helped me get everything put out. Without his help it would have taken me longer, but with us both working together, yaaay! We had fun and got to talk about stuff. We have that whole understanding of each other and our crazy ways that none of our other friends that live locally can manage. So we relate real well. Dirt is good. Plants are goood.

One of the plants I got from Patty was a type of garlic. Garlic lily she said, so it had been marked when she bought it. Has very small and very nice little purple flowers. And does it smell STRONG! Whew. We had it in the backseat on the ride home and had nowhere else for it, and it smelled so strongly of garlic. The car smelled like it for a day or so even after it was gone. I have many very nice plants, and though most of them were just tubers and bulbs, they'll be nice and grown out next year, and I can hardly wait!

I finally got the pond going again. Trial and error. The smaller feeder goldfish really don't take well to rain. I found that much out. But they're feeders anyway, and not the hardiest under outside conditions. Now for the most part everything is rather balanced out. Now I'm just crossing my fingers and hoping it stays that way.

At the moment I have three of the small feeder goldfish (the survivors of the original ten). I got some Shubunkin, three of them. They're really pretty and active! I got two Plecos to keep the place tidy. I got a small albino catfish to help. I also have a little female fiddler crab. Together I'm hoping they'll all help keep things balanced.

I went outside today to check on the pond and my plants and make sure all was in order and some tools were put away before the rain came. As I was tending the pond, removing leaves and pine needles, I noticed in the waterfall track that there were a few pine needles and a gray blob. I removed the pine needles and turned my attention to the gray thing, thinking it must have been a leaf or... something.... and it moved! And all I could do is gauck for a moment until I moved the frog water spitter feature. And then I squealed with delight and ran inside like the crazed spotty wolpard I am to share the news with mom. I have a FROG visiting my pond! And I am seriously hoping he decides to make it his happy home!

I was so tickled to find the little frog that I went inside and got my camera, and decided to take pictures of the area to show everyone the progress since I started this project. I didn't have the heart to take pictures of the ruin I came home to find, but I do have the other image from an earlier ( post ). So it can be compared. It has all come a long way, and still has an even longer way to go. But it's getting there!

Now for the pictures!

Fishes and plants!

More to come later! There's still lots of work to be done at that area, and two others. One of which is already started, and the other which is in planning. The later I am wanting to make into a sort of rock/cacti garden. Have to wait and see.

Overall though, things are looking up.

I want sooooooo badly to go back to Hobby Lobby with money. They have all of their beads marked down on sale! ARRGHH. They don't have them on sale often enough, and when they do it seems I don't have money. Dangit! They should consult me first! The sale ends on the 9th though. Bwarrgh. So unless I can dig up about $20 before then.. ahhh well.

I finally got to go find the place where I got that gift card from. Bev gave it to me for my birthday, for $15. A bead shop in Covington called Stringbeans. Mom had to go take care of legal stuff the other day, so we went looking for it while there. AWESOME little shop. And the owner is so cool! I bought some really nice pieces of coral, and she snuck a little thank you gift into my bag when I wasn't looking. It's a little baggy of assorted beads and some of the stretch cord for stringing to make a bracelet I guess. Still, it's a nice little thought. It also had a $5-off coupon, so woo! I told her I was looking for work, and said if she ever needed extra help, to just let me know. I gave her my card and she said she certainly would let me know.

I still can't find one of my art books that turned up missing. I realized it when I got home and went looking for it to study a technique. And... it was gone. Turned the house upside down and can't find it anywhere. The damned gremlins took it, or something.

Hopefully it'll turn up soon. I really need it. I plan to do more work on some crafty stuff tonight, and maybe even get a few things finished. Then I can take pictures to share. Everyone likes pictures.

Crafty art stuff tiiime!
