Hiiiiiii!! Wow, I was just thinking of you the other day as I was watching my little snail cruise around the aquarium and wondering how you were doing. Apple snails are so much love. So good to hear from you!
How on earth have you been? Would love to catch up! Are you still in the area? Maybe we can meet for lunch sometime or something.
Thanks so much for the recommendation. That's one of the first programs I applied for when I came back to New Orleans. Unfortunately it hasn't done anything for me. :(
The first clinic I went to told me they couldn't see me supposedly because my health issues required specialty care and they recommended going to one of the larger clinics and gave me the LSU info in that program. I really think it was just because I have a service dog and they didn't want to deal with it.
That was when I had the nightmare experience of waiting months to try and get into LSU for primary and get a referral for rheumatology, and then told I needed to go to the ER for them to be able to look at my hand injury ( which turned out to be De Quervain's tenosynovitis. When I finally saw a rheumatologist through LSU, he was a total ass, hurt me during examination and handled me roughly, and basically ignored all of my relevant concerns and insisted my problems were only Fibromyalgia related.
When I tried to submit the card at my local Walmart pharmacy, they told me it didn't cover any of my prescriptions, even generic versions.
Do you actually have to use one of their specific pharmacies to get the discount? Because if so, no one ever bothered to tell me. But I have found no one bothers to tell you a lot of things relevant to all these things even when you ask. ;)
You might want to give them another go. I see daughters of charity for primary care and they do my referrals over to LSU/Tulane. I have crohns, fibromyalgia and (probably) arthritis so I see several clinics. The Tulane run ones (they alternate days - same clinic different staff) tend to be better. They've even sent me off to get a sleep study in lafayette.
The prescription discount is tied to the clinic rather than the card. That's why I recommended the Daughters of Charity Metairie one, they have a pharmacy inside. The DoC on Carrollton has a dentist and eye doctor if you ever need one.
