Ok, so I spent about 12 hours reading Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows. Brian brought me out at 7AM (bless his heart) to buy it at Walmart.
Now, I knew - this being the last book and all - that there would be deaths, deaths, and probably more deaths. Somehow, though, she managed to shock me with the shear number of them. Granted, most of them were minor characters, but by Chapter 5, there were 4 deaths already.
Ok, I will admit, I teared up a bit when Hedwig died, and a bit more when Dobby died. But somehow, the idea of Harry dying didn't really move me. Maybe because I fully expected him to. The death of Snape, and the mannor in which it happened, did shock me. As did the revelation that Snape was in love with Lily.
The name of Harry's child, Albus Severus, had me choking back a tear or two, even if I largely disliked the epilogue and feel the story could easily have done without it.
Well, that's my rant. I'm still trying to process all of what I read and I'm sure I will think of other things that struck me.
