Doesn't much feel like Christmas...

Dec 24, 2006 22:52

Well, in a little over an hour, it will be Christmas.  Not that it feels like it here.  Today was 82 degrees and tomorrow is supposed to be 83.  My dad was swimming in the ocean today, and all of our doors and windows were open.

It will be the last time (for probably a long time) that my parents, sister, and myself will be together for Christmas.  I'm moving up north, my parents are planning to sell the house in June (though where they're going is still up in the air), and my sister has to find an apartment for herself and her husband (who will be here in about 2 months) and they don't know where they will end up.

Also, the health of my uncle weighs heavily on all of our minds, making it difficult to be festive.  The base of our tree is rather empty and if not for our generous neighbors, it would be rather sad.

I began packing in earnest today.  Most of my things will remain here in Florida until April or May, when Brian and his brother are hoping to purchase a duplex together.  Then I will fly down, rent a small Uhaul van, and drive my stuff up.

Well, from my family to yours, Merry Christmas (or Happy Holiday of your choice)!
