English Premier League: Arsenal 4-2 Wigan (aka “Goodbye Highbury. Thanks for the memories.”)

May 08, 2006 23:00

Arsenal said goodbye to Highbury, its home for 93 years, on Sunday, 7 May 2006. Everything seemed to fall into place. Wigan made a fight of the match but Arsenal eventually prevailed 4-2 with Thierry Henry scoring a hattrick. After his third goal whcih was scored from a penalty, Thierry Henry kissed the ground goodbye.

Meanwhile, the Scum (i.e. Tottenham Hotspur) suffered an outbreak of food poisoning a few hours before their match against West Ham. West Ham won the match 2-1 and that left the Scum in 5th spot after Arsenal's victory over Wigan secured 4th spot for Arsenal.

All I have to say to the Scum and their fans,

KARMA

"Play, play, play," said Martin Jol then. Now, it's time to pay the price, you Scum-lovers. “Champions League football? You're having a laugh, Tottenham”. Just desserts!

And to all Gooners,

A belated but HAPPY ST. TOTTERINGHAM DAY*

* The day that the Scum are mathematically unable to secure a league position higher than Arsenal.

scum, epl, goodbye highbury, arsenal, sports, football
