Chapter 25

It was hot today. People could be seen anywhere around the school. The chatters, laughter, and yells were mingling together in the crowd. Many students in various outfits were calling people to visit their class room. Some were wearing bright and colorful costumes while some others wearing ridiculous make up. There was even some guy who wore girl’s clothes or the opposite.

Class 3-3 was one of them. Their class was magically changed into a battle field. The tables and chairs were all gone, replaced by fake rocks and trees made of stereo foam. They’re not perfect of course, remembering they were short of time and budget but at least they were passable. What’s all of this about, you ask? Well, since their class got the entertainment section so they decided to hold a shooting/survival game. The guest’s team would be against the class’s team. Since they were using water gun, the guest would be given a special clothing to cover them. Now, the interesting part was what the class residents wore.

All of them wore ordinary school uniform but to make the game even more fun and interesting, some girls were wearing boy’s uniform while some boys were wearing the opposite. It’s really a wonder how girls could looked better than real guys and how boys could look so pretty in a skirt. People seemed to be amused by this but not Saga.

The said boy was trying to hide himself in the corner of the crowded classroom. From all the lottery papers available to pick, why did he get to pick the unlucky one? Oh, right that was because Fate hated him. He closed his powdered face with his palms. Usually he didn’t mind getting a role like this. Last year, he even offered himself to play as a princess to help the drama club. Then again, Tora didn’t know him at that time so Saga could careless about his appearance. But now he wanted to die if the other boy saw him in a skirt like this. What would Tora think?

The sound of laughter made Saga turned back to see his best friend laughing with people that surrounded him. Even in a girl’s uniform, Shou still as confident as always. He even looked happy. Saga and Shou were wearing a waist length wig and their faces were painted with light make up. With their slim body and long legs, both of them could pass as girls in the sailor uniform they were wearing. He wished he could be a bit more like the other boy. Shou seemed to be more carefree than any boy who forced to use girl’s clothes. Didn’t he have any worry what his boyfriend would think?

“Shou-kun?” Hiroto came into the class as if to answer Saga’s question. The small blond widened his eyes when he saw Shou. Shou had told him that there was surprise but he didn’t expect this kind of surprise.

The said blond beamed at the sight of his little boyfriend, who looked dumbfounded at him, and he bounced out of the crowd that surrounded him. In no time, he stood in front of Hiroto and batted his eyelashes to him.

“You look so pretty!” Hiroto finally founded his voice and said in awe, making the taller boy to turn around as he inspected his boyfriend.

Saga wanted to hit his own head as he heard the exclamation from Hiroto. He had forgotten that Hiroto was not a normal person too. The two of them were really a match. Suddenly he froze. If Hiroto was here then that mean Tora would be here too! Quickly, he ran to the deeper part of the class room and blended with the crowd there.

Shou looked down at Hiroto with a smug look, “Of course I am,” he said while flipping back his temporary long hair gracefully. “This is me after all.”

Hiroto laughed and shook his head. “Very cute, Shou,” he smiled at Shou and opened his mouth to say something but someone rudely pushed him aside with a shove.

A girl was replacing Hiroto’s place in front of Shou and began to fawn over the older boy. Soon the number of the girls surrounding the ex-playboy was getting higher and higher that Hiroto couldn’t even see his boyfriend anymore. He huffed and folded his arms, glaring at the fangirls. Maybe he should thinking twice before dating a popular playboy.

His body jerked forward and he almost fell when someone bumped against him. He pouted to himself. Just because he was a bit lacking in height didn’t mean that he was invincible!

“Hey, you are so cute! Are you a first year? What’s your name? Where are your friends? Are you alone? How about-“

Hiroto blinked and stepped back in surprise when a random girl attacking him with random and unrelated questions. “W-what?” was all the small boy could muttered out in confusion.

The girl giggled and grabbed Hiroto’s hand to shake it. “I’m Yuna!” She introduced herself cheerfully.

“I see you have found a new victim, Yuna,” A soft yet firm voice said. Shou’s eyes were glued Yuna’s hand which still holding his boyfriend’s hand.

After a few of sweet words and empty promises, Shou finally managed to ditch all his fans and was not surprised that he didn’t see Hiroto in his previous spot before his fans obstructing his sight. What surprised him was when his eyes caught the sight of Yuna, the playgirl of his class touching his Hiroto.

Yuna pouted in a way that she thought was irresistible to everyone. Well, truthfully the pout was cute but in Shou’s angry eyes it was far from cute. “Well, it’s your fault for ignoring me, Shou-kun~” she said slyly, hands creeping up to Shou’s chest. “Though I wouldn’t mind if you offering me your company.”

Smirking, Shou pushed the small fingers away from him and grabbed the silent Hiroto who was watching both of them with wide eyes. “I’m sorry but I have a guest, right now,” he winked at the fumed Yuna as he pulled Hiroto away from the evil girl to the changing booth’s area.

When they were far away from Yuna, the ex-playboy turned to his small love and folded his arms, looking down at Hiroto. “Listen Hiroto, that girl is evil,” he started. “She liked to play with boys and breaking their heart on the way.”

“…and you’re not?” Hiroto asked accusingly, a bit disgruntled by the way Shou chided him like a mother to her child.

Shou opened his mouth but closed it again when he couldn’t find a suitable sentence. He threw his face to the side and scratched his head awkwardly. There was a moment of silence before the older boy sighed. “That’s not the point, Pon,” he shook his head. “Come one, the game will begin soon,” Shou took Hiroto’s hand and pulled him forward but Hiroto didn’t budge from his position.

“Shou? You’re not like her, right?” Hiroto asked, tugging at the warm hand. His heart was beating loudly inside his chest as he waited for the answer. It was a stupid question he knew that but he just couldn’t help it. He lowered his gaze to the white floor as he waited for the answer.

The small boy yelped when he was pushed to the nearest changing booth (there was several changing booths available for the class resident to change clothes). All he could see was unreadable expression on the older boy before warm lips took over his mind. The feeling of insecurity never left him but as Shou caressed his cheek gently while kissing him, all that matter was this moment of bliss.

**

On the other corner of the class, Saga pressed himself against the window near the entrance. So far, he hadn’t met the tiger which was a good thing and a bad thing for him. He was glad that Tora didn’t have to see him like this but then again he couldn’t wave off the feeling of disappointment of not seeing the other boy. He really need to quit being so indecisive, he scolded himself.

Sighing, he looked out the window and saw a familiar figure walking closer and closer. He opened the window and wave at Nao. The younger boy was walking alone with his blue yukata. Saga guessed it was the uniform for his class seeing as Nao’s class selling traditional foods.

Saga watched in amusement when Nao approached him with a frown. Nao narrowed his eyes as he walked closer to Saga. Amused, the older boy just kept silent, letting the other on his own. Nao blinked for a few times before he gasped and jumped back, making his glasses almost fell. “SAGA??!”

Saga couldn’t keep his act and laughed out loud. “Yeah, it’s me, stupid,” the older one shook his head.

“You’re a GIRL??!” Nao exclaimed, jumping closer to his friend.

Saga rolled his eyes at the stupid exclamation. “Of course not, baka!” he hit Nao’s head when the shorter one got near enough to him. “I’m wearing this for the game,” Saga shifted a bit so the other could see into his crowded class.

“Oh…” Nao said with a flat tone. His excitement was gone as fast as it came. “I better go then.”

“Why are you going so fast? Kai can wait for you for a bit longer~” Saga teased.

Nao fell silent at that. It’s been a week since he saw Kai with the unknown woman. His boyfriend had called him that night to apologize for yelling at him and Nao just apologize back, saying nothing about the mysterious woman. Things should be okay again between them but Nao just couldn’t help but feel that there was an invincible barrier that separated him from Kai. In the end, he never gave Kai the ticket to their festival. The said ticket was already gone anyway. He didn’t remember where he dropped it but he didn’t care, he didn’t intend to give it to Kai and fate seemed to agree with him. More over, before the fight, Kai had told him once that he had a plan to meet with someone today.

“He’s not coming,.” Nao said shortly before he hurriedly left the Saga behind before he could ask anything. He didn’t say anything to Hiroto or anyone else because he didn’t want to keep thinking about it. Besides, sooner or later he would forget about the lady and act normal again.

“What the-“ Saga blinked at the back of Nao’s head. His mind was filled questions. He didn’t understand why the younger boy never talked about his problem. Despite his cheerful personality, Nao was surprisingly quiet when it came to his problem. Saga sighed.

“Hey, pretty, all alone?”

Saga’s eye brow twitched when he heard that. “I’m not-“ he turned around to yell at the newcomer but all words died when he saw Tora smirking at him.

Damn. “Errr….” Saga licked his suddenly dry lips as he moved his eyes to the right and left, trying to search for an escape. Quietly, he took a few steps back but just as he about to run, Tora’s hand caught his wrist.

“You’re not going anywhere,” Tora said firmly.

“I have to go; the game will be starting soon,” The shorter one reasoned, looking at the floor.

Tora smirked and took out his ticket for Saga to see. “You have to take me with you then,” his smirk grew even wider as Saga mumbled some curses.

**

There were a lot of people coming to class 2-1 and Nao was glad for that. Being busy meant that he didn’t have time to think about a certain someone. If he had a little free time, even if it just a minute, his mind was always flying to Kai. He didn’t know why he felt so down like this. This is the first time he felt like this ever since he got together with the older man. It’s not like Kai had cheated on him or something but the insecurities kept haunting his heart.

“One hot Green Tea, please.”

Without looking up, Nao picked up a cup to fill it with the hot drink. “Here you go…” his smile faltered when he looked into his boyfriend’s smiling face. Slowly the boy put down the glass on the counter. “Why are you here?” he asked.

The man before him smiled, showing off his dimples. “You dropped this in front of my café,” he pulled out the festival ticket which Nao thought was lost. “You’re such a bad boyfriend for not telling me about this festival.” Kai teased with a small laugh.

Nao ignored the last comment and looked down into the green fluid. “It is just a stupid anniversary, nothing important,” he mumbled.

The smile on Kai’s lips died instantly at the remark. “But you’ve been excited for this day, right?” He tried to catch his boyfriend’s eyes but failed as Nao kept looking into the cup. He didn’t know what’s wrong with Nao. He had been acting strangely these past days. The smile that he loved so much wasn’t anywhere to be seen. What could he do to make Nao smile again?

“Nao?” Kai caught Nao’s hand that was holding the cup but Nao shrugged it off. “You can pay for this at the cashier,” he said quickly.

Hesitantly, the older man took the cup and walked to the cashier but his eyes never leaving Nao. From the corner of his eyes, he saw Nao whispered something to one of his classmates and went out of the class room. Kai hurriedly took pay for the tea and quickly followed his boyfriend without waiting for the change.

“Nao, why are you like this? If I did something wrong, just tell me!” Kai demanded as he grabbed Nao’s arm. “You haven’t been acting like yourself.”

“Who’s that woman?” Nao finally blurted out, glaring up at Kai.

Kai blinked in confusion. “What woman?” he asked, carefully pushing Nao back to the side so they didn’t stood in the middle of the hallway.

“I saw you with a woman at the café last week! The day after we fight!” Nao added the last sentence desperately when he saw Kai’s confused face.

Kai tried to recall the woman he met that day then he laughed when he realized what was going on his little Nao’s mind. “She is my sister.” He grinned. “Why? Are you jealous?”

Nao went silent for a full minute, trying to comprehend what Kai had told him. “Heeee???! She’s your sister?!” Kai found Nao’s slowness was priceless. “And I’m not jealous! I’m just curious,” Nao defended himself. The faint blush on his cheeks betrayed him though.

“Yeah, right,” Kai rolled his eyes but he still kept his smile on his face. Glad to finally know what was bothering Nao.

The revelation lifted some weight from Nao’s shoulder. But the insecurities were still there. He looked up at the smiling face of his boyfriend. Maybe he should talk to Kai about it. “Kai, do you think we’re living in different world? I mean look at you, all grown up while me is still being me…”

“What’s wrong about you being you?” Kai asked back. “You’re being you is more than enough.”

Nao looked up at Kai’s face and saw him smiling his gentle smile. It was like the first time he saw the older man smiled at him, making his heart melt. Finally, for the first time in days, Nao could smile genuinely. “Did I ever tell you how much I love you?” he asked teasingly.

Kai chuckled and shook his head. “Not in the last week.”

“Well, I love you more than I love my food and Starbucks,” Nao laughed and blow a kiss at him.

“And I love you more than I love my cooking and recipe,” Kai cooed. How he missed being sappy with his dear pooh bear.

Nao wanted to launch himself at the older man but he restrained his will as there were a lot of people there. “By the way, didn’t you say that you have an appointment today?” he asked to distract his mind.

Kai gave Nao a mischievous look. “Didn’t I say that I would ditch anyone for you, pooh chan?”

Nao gaped. He couldn’t believe that Kai still remembered their silly conversation when they were teasing Hiroto. “Kai-chan!” This time he couldn’t help himself and jumped at Kai, making both of them fell to the floor with Nao on top of the dark haired man. Everyone looked at them but Nao just smiled sheepishly at them before helping the older man up. Both of them had a wide smile and light feeling as they walked back to Nao’s class.

**

A wet Shou came out from the ‘playground’ followed with a happy looking Hiroto. “I won! I won!” He sang to himself with a smug look on his face.

“You mean your team won,” Shou pouted. “You didn’t do much there, Pon. All you did was hiding and shrieking like a girl,” he told the younger boy.

Hiroto glared. “I did not! I shot you twice, remember? I also shot Saga once. You just a sore loser, admit it!” He stuck out his tongue to Shou who was whining about his wet clothes.

“You shot me twice so you have to take responsibility for my wet clothes!” Without any warning, Shou pushed his unsuspecting love into the changing booth again.

“Shou!” Hiroto protested. Shou pushing him around made him felt like a little doll. He was a human being, not a toy!

The older one smirked. He cornered Hiroto to the wall, making Hiroto gulped at the predatory look on the other’s face. Shou moved his hand under his sailor uniform and pushed it up seductively, reveling in Hiroto’s embarrassment. The younger boy didn’t move from his spot so he took it as a good sign. He leaned down and pressed his lips against Hiroto’s soft one.

“You have to help me change my clothes.”

**

Saga saw his best friend dragging his little boyfriend out from the war zone and soon was disappeared into the crowd. From the corner of his eyes, he saw Tora, who was beside him, looking around. There was no need to ask Tora who he was looking for. It was obvious. Tora seemed to try held himself for Saga’s sake since he didn’t vocally say that he was searching for his childhood friend but the hurt in Saga’s chest didn’t feel any less.

“Shou dragged him away,” Saga told the taller boy. “Don’t worry he will take care of Hiroto,” Saga picked up a dry towel from one of the available towel and tossed it to Tora. “You’re wet,” he said with an amused voice. Despite the tough look, the tiger was surprisingly an easy target. Shou was having too much fun shooting the poor tiger on the war zone.

“Haha, that’s really funny,” Tora laughed humorlessly while patting his hair dry with the towel.

Saga chuckled. “Come on, you need to change your clothes,” He pushed Tora’s back to the direction of the changing booths.

Tora nodded, “You’re coming?”

Saga stopped toweling his wig to shake his head. “I ‘m going to join the next round,” was all he said, waving the other boy off.

“Oh, okay,” Tora moved closer to Saga and leaned down. “By the way, you look beautiful,” he whispered. He smirked when he saw Saga jumped a few feet away from him. “See you later,” Tora winked at him and left.

**

“Tora-shi!” a squirrelly boy ran to the tiger boy and hugged him tightly. “I want to play again but Shou won’t let me!” he whined.

“I told you, Pon, that I only had an hour off before I have to join the game again and I don’t want to spend my free time at my own class,” Shou said, pulling his boyfriend from Tora. “You can play again then.”

“Fine.” Hiroto grumbled, but he let himself being led by Shou.

“Good boy,” Shou patted Hiroto’s messy hair. “Come on,” he smiled to his own chipmunk.

Hiroto shook his head. His free hand still held Tora’s arm tightly. “I want Tora-shi to go with us,” he said, biting his lower lip. He knew he was being selfish and self centered but he wanted his boyfriend and his best friend at least tolerate each other. He didn’t want to pick between one of them when both of them were fighting/bickering. He loves them both after all.

Blinking his eyes widely, Hiroto fixed his puppy eyes to Shou and Tora. The taller one sighed and shrugged a sign that he was defeated. One down, one more to go. Hiroto opening his eyes even wider if that was possible. Shou wanted to protest but his words just wouldn’t come out.

“…fine…” Finally Shou surrendered. He wondered if he’s going to spend all his life spoiling his irresistible boyfriend. The answer made Hiroto smiled so bright like a sun and that was when Shou knew that he was doomed.

**

“So where are we going?” Shou asked, breaking the awkward silence between the three of them.

The three had been wondering around the hall aimlessly in silence. No one had been talking ever since Hiroto pulled Tora with them. It made Hiroto frustrated. Things just didn’t go the way he wanted. Sure, he didn’t expect Shou and Tora acted like buddy that fast but the silence were going to make him crazy. So that’s why, the youngest boy jumped at the opportunity to make things better. “How about--” he bounced a bit as he was about to suggest something but someone cut him off.

“Hey, you guys!” Someone in a sport jersey halted them. “Please HELP us!!!” he clinged to Hiroto’s shirt as he practically begged them.

“Hey, hands off!” Shou pushed the strange boy away from his Hiroto, making him grabbed onto Tora’s collar instead.

“Help us?” he asked again pathetically. “We held a mini soccer game but no one come into our class…”

Shou rolled his eyes. “What it has to do with us?” he huffed.

“Well, maybe if people saw you guys are having fun while playing the game; it will attract people to come?” The strange guy tried to reason with a weak smile.

“Okay, we will help you!” Hiroto said excitedly before anyone could protest.

**

“Goal!!”

Hiroto jumped in joy and his team mates ran to hug him. The three of them were laughing and talking like they had known each other forever. All of them were sweaty from all the running and kicking but no one really minded it as they lost in excitement.

It should be a joyful moment if Shou was one of them. He watched his boyfriend and his new friends sullenly. How come he got separated from Hiroto (the team was decided with lottery) and got into the same team with Tora?! He glared at the taller boy who glared back at him.

“Ne, Shou, Tora, is that all you got? It’s 2-0 already,” The chipmunk walked over to them and smirked. “You guys are too old to play this sport~” he teased, whistling to himself as he ran back to his team mates.

“We’ll see, Pon, we’ll see…” Shou muttered, telling himself not to be defeated by Hiroto.

After the game was started again, Shou and Tora ran to Hiroto, who had the ball with him, to snatch the ball from the quick boy. Hiroto just grinned at them and slipped past them easily, throwing a smirk at them before running to the goal.

Grumbling, the ex-playboy got up with determination to defeat his boyfriend. His pride was on the line. Just as he raised his head, his eyes met with a pair of dark eyes that held the same spark with him. He and Tora looked into each other eyes for a split second and a silent agreement was traded between them.

The game soon started again. Shou and Tora exchanged glance once again as soon as Hiroto had the ball with him. The blonde chased his little boyfriend. It was not an easy task since Hiroto could run really fast but somehow he managed to catch up and ran side by side with him. Shou ‘accidentally’ brushed his hand against Hiroto’s ass as he ran passed him.

Hiroto was startled at the touch and almost stepped on the ball. Shou took this chance to take the ball and passed it to Tora, who already near the goal without anyone guarding him. As soon as the tiger got the ball, he aimed it to the goal. Everyone on Shou and Tora team yelled in excitement when they got their first score.

“You’re not bad,” Shou mused to Tora with a smirk on his face.

Tora smirked back. He raised his hand to hi-five with the ex-playboy. “You too,” He whispered.

Just then, a flushed Hiroto came over to them. “You cheating!” he accused Shou.

“What? I didn’t do anything,” The blonde pouted with ‘I’m not guilty’ look.

“The hell you didn’t! You groped my ass!” Hiroto whispered the last part, his face reddening a bit.

“What? You want me to grope your ass? With pleasure, baby~” Shou grinned and leaped over to Hiroto.

“No!” Hiroto yelled quickly and pushed the older boy off him before he could do anything. He ran to Tora’s side, seeking for protection. “Ne, Tora, you saw him touched my ass, right?” he asked stubbornly.

Tora shrugged. “I didn’t see anything. You lost, Pon. Just accept it,” He answered lightly, ruffling Hiroto’s hair.

Hiroto was convinced that his best friend would defend him so it came as surprise to him when he heard Tora’s answer. Tora almost laughed out loud at Hiroto’s priceless expression. He left Hiroto to gather with his team.

“I’ll let you pass this time for groping Hiroto but next time there won’t be anymore touching before me, okay?” The dark haired boy whispered to Shou.

Shou laughed. “We’ll see about that,” There was nothing kind about their words to each other but the atmosphere wasn’t dark and threatening like their other bickering before.

From afar, Hiroto saw Shou talked with Tora for a minute before both of them turned their head to face the younger boy and let out an almost identical smirk to his direction. Hiroto gulped. Maybe it wasn’t a good idea to let those two be friends after all.
