“I heard there is going to be a new game center near my house,” Shou told Hiroto as they walked side by side on their way home after work.
“Mmm…” Hiroto nodded absentmindedly.
“Aren’t you excited? There will be a lot of new games!” Shou said excitedly.
“Mmm…”
The taller boy pouted when he got no response from the other boy, “Are you listening to me?”
“Mmm…”
“Good, then will you walk naked to my house?” Wrapping his arms around Hiroto’s shoulder, Shou asked Zombie-Pon who was still in his own world.
“Mm-" Hiroto nodded once before his eyes widened in surprise. “WHAT? NO!!!” he blushed as he finally returned to the world of living. The small boy quickly moved away from his perverted boyfriend. “Pervert…” he mumbled when he was at a safe distance from the other boy.
Shou laughed at the shocked expression on his boyfriend's face. He walked to Hiroto and engulfed him in a big hug. “That’s what you get for ignoring me.” He tightened his hold on Hiroto.
“Hmph, Shou! I can’t breathe!” Hiroto flailed, trying to push Shou away or at least make the taller boy loosen his hold so he could take in some fresh air. Otherwise Shou would have a real zombie as a boyfriend.
“Promise you won’t ignore me again?” Grinning, Shou tried to blackmail his small boyfriend.
The request made Hiroto pouted. What kind of boyfriend was Shou to try to kill his own boyfriend? His stubborn mind refused to give in to the other boy’s demand but he really need to breathe! “I promise!” he squeaked out the answer.
Satisfied with the answer, Shou finally released the red faced Hiroto and let him take a deep breath. “Good boy,” he pinched Hiroto's soft cheek.
Hiroto huffed and turned away from the older blond, stroking his slightly aching cheek, “You’re so mean.”
“I don’t like to be ignored,” Shou said as he encircled his arms around Hiroto’s waist from behind and rested his chin on the shorter boy’s shoulder.
“I didn’t mean to ignore you,” Hiroto said as he caressed Shou’s hands which rested on his belly. “I was just thinking about Tora-shi…”
“Still thinking about that?” Shou sighed. “I told you that Tora isn’t mad at you.”
“But he didn’t talk to me at all after that.” By that, Hiroto mean the incident in the staff room when he asked Tora not to fight with his boyfriend. Tora just sat in the café without talking to him. He didn’t even call him. Then when Hiroto looked at Tora’s table again, the older boy had gone.
"He kept looking at you the whole time, Pon. He's not mad!" Shou grumbled. Hiroto had been this way ever since Tora left the café without telling him first.
Hiroto frowned, "He was looking at me because he's angry!"
"He's not!" Shou scratched his perfect hair in frustration. "Stop thinking about him already!"
“How can I not think of him? I can’t stand it when someone is mad at me, especially if that person is my friend,” Hiroto glared. “I know you would do the same if it was Saga who got mad at you,” he shot back.
“It’s not the same!” Shou raised his voice. “Saga is not my ex-boyfriend.”
Hiroto gaped at the taller boy, “So that’s what's bothering you? It’s because Tora is my ex-boyfriend?” He clenched his fist when Shou turned his head to side, confirming his accusation. “I can’t believe you! How many girls at our school are your exes?!” he hit Shou’s chest.
“Well at least I never hug or get all mushy with my exes,” the taller boy glared back at Hiroto.
“He’s my best friend!”
“Saga is my best friend too, and you never see him acting like a jealous person, do you?” Shou folded his arms on his chest.
Hiroto bit his lower lip. “Tora is not jealous! He’s just…a bit protective…” he admitted.
“Not just a bit, Pon. He’s way too overprotective! I can't even talk to you properly when that jerk is around,” the older blond grumbled.
The glare was sent back to Shou after he said that. Hiroto stomped on his foot, making the other scream in surprise and pain. “He’s not a jerk and he's just worried about me! Considering your reputation, he has a right to be worried!”
This time it was Shou’s turn to gape at the shorter boy. “So it’s all my fault?!” he asked incredulously.
“How can Tora trust you if all you do is molest me in front of him?!”
“You’re my boyfriend!” Shou frowned.
“Boyfriends do other things, too. They don't just molest each other, Shou!” the small boy cried out. “Do you ever think of anything else?” Hiroto asked, frustrated.
“Well, if Tora didn’t bug us every minute maybe I could think of something else.”
Hiroto narrowed his eyes at Shou, refusing to say another word as seconds slowly stretched out into, what felt like, hours.
The taller boy glared right back at Hiroto, letting the silence creep between them.
“Fine, be that way!” the younger boy pushed Shou.
“Fine!” Shou pushed Hiroto too.
The two glared at each other once more before they huffed and stormed off in opposite directions.

Hiroto and Shou were still in bad mood the next day. They accidentally met at the school gate and both of them avoided each other to prevent another verbal fight. The two of them were too stubborn to apologize first.
The small boy was grumbling to himself when someone called him. He turned and saw Tora behind him.
“Hey…” Tora greeted Hiroto. It seemed Tora didn’t have a good night sleep either since he had a tired face and red eyes.
“Morning…” Hiroto greeted back hesitantly since he didn’t know if Tora was mad at him or not. “…are you mad at me?” he finally decided to just ask rather than feel guilty all day.
Tora looked surprised at the question, “Why would I be mad at you?”
Hearing that, the small boy sighed in relief. “You left so suddenly yesterday…” he whispered. He was relieved that Tora wasn't mad at him but he also felt bad because his boyfriend was right.
“Ah, I’m sorry. I had some things to think of so I left,” Tora gave the boy a small smile when Hiroto looked at him in concern. “Don’t worry about it, okay?” he ruffled Hiroto’s hair.
The smaller boy looked at Tora’s expression for a few moments before he finally nodded hesitantly. “If you say so…” he said. “But you know you can always talk to me, right?” He looked up hopefully at the taller boy, eager to help.
Tora chuckled. “I know I can count on you,” he replied, causing a big grin to spread across his little friend’s face.

Shou got into the classroom, his eyes wondering automatically to search for his best friend. He sighed when he didn’t find him. He got to his seat and rested his head on the table. Why was Saga never there when he needed him?
“Shou-kun-” Some girls tried to approach him but he waved them away without raising his head. He was not in the mood to entertain them, not when he felt this down. Geez, when will they realize that Shou didn’t want them?
He froze at his own thought. Before he met Hiroto, he actually liked their attention. And now all he could think of was how to get away from the girls. He raised his head from the table and turned to see the blue sky through the window, thinking about their fight.
Maybe he was too harsh with Hiroto? It was not the smaller boy’s fault that his best friend was so protective of him. He couldn’t blame Tora for being overprotective, either. If Shou were him he knew he would do the same thing. Sometimes, Hiroto was too oblivious to his surroundings. Besides it seemed like the two of them had been friends since forever, at least much longer than he had been friends with Saga.
Groaning, Shou dropped his head to the table again. Relationships were so hard.

“Ne, Hiroto…” Nao picked up a fried meatball and popped it into his mouth. They were at their usual spot on the roof. In Nao's lap was a heart shaped bento box with all kinds of food inside it.
“What?” Hiroto stopped tearing the bread wrapper to look at his friend.
Nao sat closer to the smaller boy and poked him with his chopsticks, “Where’s Shou?”
The pout appeared on Hiroto’s face when he heard his boyfriend’s name. “I don’t know and I don’t care,” he gritted his teeth as he tore the wrapper with more force then he should have.
Nao widened his eyes. “Huh? Why?” he asked curiously.
“He’s being stupid,” that was all Hiroto said to Nao before he took a big bite of his bread in order to relieve some of his tension.
“Whoaaa…it’s only been two days and you guys are already fighting?” Nao gasped.
Had it only been two days? Hiroto thought. It felt like he and Shou were together much longer than that. “It’s his fault!” He looked down, remembering the detail of yesterday’s fighting, “Well, maybe half of it was my fault, too…but still! He’s so stubborn!”
From Nao point of view, the smaller boy looked like he was trying to convince himself instead of talking to him. “Hiroto, you’re stubborn too,” he said simply as he picked up some rice from his bento box.
Hiroto’s eyes widened, “I am?”
“Yes, you are very, very stubborn. Let’s see, you never ask for help. You never eat more even when everyone tells you to. You never listen when someone tells you to rest. You push yourself too hard at work, and-Do you want me to continue? I can go on and on,” Nao counted each of Hiroto’s stubborn qualities with his left fingers.
The small boy raised his hands in defeat, “That’s enough.” His shoulder slumped. “I guess I am stubborn. Then…should I apologize?”
Nao shrugged, “I think you should, but that’s for you to decide.”
“Mmm…” Hiroto nibbled on his bread as he thought over Nao’s words.
“Hey, guys,” Tora came with the bento box he bought from the cafeteria and sat down between the younger boys.
“What took you so long? Lunch break is almost over!” Nao’s attention shifted from Hiroto to the older boy.
Tora sighed, “I had something to do.” He looked around. “Where's Shou?” He frowned when Hiroto shook his head sadly.
“They had a quarrel.” Nao informed him.
“Oh…” Tora didn’t know what to say to that. Sure, he didn’t like the other boy being with Hiroto but somehow he felt like the fight had something to do with him. Sighing, he tried to suppress his guilt and opened his bento to eat before the bell rang. “Did any of you see Saga?” he asked.
Hiroto and Nao shook their heads and Tora sighed again wondering where the hell Saga was.

After lessons, when they met in front of the school gate, Shou and Hiroto were still unsure whether or not they should apologize. They just stood there, facing each other with neither one talking.
“Shou-” Finally Hiroto couldn’t take the tension and tried to start talking when a small figure ran past him right into Shou.
Shou yelped when someone knocked him to the ground with their body. “Hey, what are you…” Sitting up, and readying himself to yell at the person, Shou went silent when he saw who the person was. “Hiro??!” Surprised, Shou widened his eyes at the small boy on top of him.
“Finally I found you!” Hiro exclaimed. He had a big grin on his face. “I’ve been searching for you since that day!” he happily clapped his hands.
“Errr…” Shou was speechless. He never thought he would see the other boy again. Actually, he had forgotten about him already so it was really surprising to him that Hiro had been searching for him. He yelped again when the boy hugged him. The hairs on the back of his neck rose and he looked up to see Hiroto narrowing his eyes at them before he stormed off.
“Wait, Pon!” He pushed the other boy off him to quickly chase after his boyfriend, feeling some kind of déjà vu. He could feel a hand grip his wrist and saw Hiro looking at him expectantly. “I’m sorry,” Shou said to the smaller boy and pulled his wrist from the other’s grip.
**
“Hiropon!” Shou finally caught up to his boyfriend. Well, it wasn't that hard to chase after him since Hiroto didn’t run. He just walked faster than usual.
Hiroto kept walking in silence without even turning to look at his boyfriend.
“Hey, talk to me.”
“It’s not my fault that he jumped me, okay?” Shou grabbed Hiroto’s shoulder and turned him around so they were face to face.
“I know…” the younger boy finally looked up and met with his boyfriend's gaze. “I just get mad because what you said yesterday was right,” he pouted.
Shou tilted his head in confusion. “Huh?” He tried to think about what he said yesterday.
“I don’t like seeing you with your ex either,” Hiroto admitted.
“See! I know I’m right!” Shou said in triumph.
Hiroto shrugged off Shou’s hold on him. “You don’t need to rub it in my face like that!” he huffed, turning away from the other. He walked away from Shou and ignored him again. The small boy didn’t know what came over him. He usually never got mad so easily, but the picture of Hiro hugging Shou just disturbed him.
“Okay, this is stupid,” Shou finally said as he grabbed Hiroto’s hand and twined their fingers together. “I don’t want to fight.”
Looking at their intertwined fingers, Hiroto’s face finally softened and he curled his fingers against Shou. “Me either…” he said softly.
“So we’re good?” Shou asked.
Hiroto touched Shou’s face and leaned up to kiss his boyfriend to make his point. “Yes,” He smiled. Shou smiled back and kissed the smaller boy once more before they walked together hand in hand, enjoying each other presence.
And with that, their first fight was officially over.
