Beep…beep…beep…
Shou stopped the alarm with a loud grumble. He sat up slightly and leaned back against the head of his bed, running his fingers through his hair. Sighing, he debated whether he should go to school or not. Last night he didn’t get to sleep much. Hiroto’s crying face was haunting him all night.
The pale boy growled and threw his pillow to the random direction. This was stupid. Why did he care so much for that boy? What made him so different from other people?
He stood up and caught a sight of a brown bag which Hiroto had thrown at him yesterday. That’s right. He had to go to school to return it to its owner. Hiroto will need it for school today.
With a slow and lazy movement, Shou picked up his uniform to get ready for the school, thinking what he should say to the younger boy.
**
“Hiroto?”
The small boy was looking down at his untouched food.
“Hiroto?” Mrs. Ogata called out again.
Hiroto was still looking down, unaware of the call of his mom across the table.
“Hiroto-chan!” This time the small woman reached out for his son’s hand.
Hiroto jerked in surprise at the touch.
“Is there something wrong?” She asked worriedly. “Why don’t you eat your food?”
Finally Hiroto looked up at his mom for the first time that morning, showing his slightly red and swollen eyes. “Huh?” He looked confused; his brain didn’t register the question.
“What happened to you? Did you cry?” Mrs. Ogata got up and cupped her son’s face to take a better look at him.
The smaller boy shook his head. “I just couldn’t sleep last night.” He lied, rubbing his eyes. “I’m not hungry so I’ll just go to school now.” He quickly stood up to avoid more unwanted question from his mother.
Mrs. Ogata watched her son worriedly when Hiroto walked to the sink to wash his hand but ended up with a big splash of water onto his uniform shirt instead. Then when he walked to the door, he somehow managed to kick on his own feet, causing him to fell onto the floor.
“Hiroto watch out-” She tried to warn Hiroto but it was too late. His son forgot to open the door so he bumped straight to the wooden surface.
Even after all that, the look on Hiroto’s face before he closed the door indicated that he still lost in his own world. She hoped nothing would happen to her dearest son.

Hiroto was halfway to the school when he realized that he didn’t have his bag with him. Frowning, he vaguely remembered that he had thrown it to Shou the day before. He sighed and looked up at the bright sky.
For once, he didn’t feel like going to school. He didn’t want to meet Shou just yet. With that decision, he turned back and let his legs wandering on his own.
**
“Baka!”
“Hey, why did you hit me?!” Shou glared at the shorter boy. He was just walking into the class room when Saga came and hit his friend’s head with a rolled up book.
Saga glared back before he pulled the other to their seat. “I found Hiroto crying yesterday. Whose fault is that?”
The taller boy sighed and slumped onto his table. “Can we talk later? The lesson will start soon…”
“You can’t avoid the question, Shou. You know Mr. Amano always late.”
Shou groaned. He turned to face his friend. “Hiroto saw me kissed someone.” He said shortly.
Saga nodded. He knew about that already. “And then?”
“I lost my temper and kissed him.” Shou banged his head to the desk.
“That’s a really smart move.” Saga said sarcastically. “I thought you wanted him to like you not the other way around.”
Shou raised his head a little to glare at Saga. “Will you stop being sarcastic?”
“Why did you kiss the guy in the first place anyway?”
“He reminded me of Hiroto...” Shou answered before he slammed his fist down to the desk. Fortunately, everyone in the class was chattering with loud voice so no one really notice them. “Why does he had this effect on me?! He’s so stubborn, emotional, and unpredictable but yet I couldn’t get him out of my mind…” he sounded so desperate that Saga also felt a bit frustrated.
“Why do you so dense?” Saga poked his forehead. “That is because you love him!”
“…love…?”
**
Shou was still slumped over his table when the bell for the lunch break ringing. Saga’s last words were really getting to him. He never thought about the love aspect before. It was a foreign word for him. But…
“Where are you going?” Saga asked his friend who stood up suddenly with two bags on his hand.
“Tell the teacher I’m sick.” Shou said to him before he went out of the class. He came to the school today only to return the bag to Hiroto. Since the younger boy didn’t come so there was no reason for him to stay at school.
**
“Now where should I go?” The tall boy asked himself as he stepped out of the school gate. Home was out of question. Being there would make him more stressed.
A part of him wanted to see Hiroto, to see if what Saga said was right. Maybe that was the reason the small boy was different from the others? Was it because he loved him? He was confused.
When he raised his head, he realized that he was standing in front of Kai’s café. From outside he could see a dark haired man with a cigarette hanging on his lips and a pretty blonde cleaning the café while Kai walked to the dark haired man and pulled the cigarettes away.
They must be the people who worked at morning shift. He thought amusedly. The ones who were always left the back room messy, leaving him and Hiroto to clean after them. He shook his head to dismiss the thought. No matter what he did, his mind always flew back to Hiroto. He quickly walked past the café.
Shou walked past a ramen restaurant and his stomach growled. He didn’t eat anything since last night.
“One miso ramen, please.” He said as he sat down on the bar table.
“Right away!” the feminine voice answered.
“Mrs. Ogata?” Shou was surprised to see Hiroto’s mom standing before him in the cook outfit. This time he could see her clearly. The woman was smaller than Hiroto. Shou had no doubt that his son got his small size from her. She had a long black hair which was tied back and her eyes reminded him of Hiroto’s.
“You know me?” She looked confused, trying to remember if she had seen him before. “Ah, that uniform…you must be Hiroto’s friend!” she smiled, happy that she can guessed correctly. “But shouldn’t you be at school at this time?”
“Uhm…my class was allowed to go home early because the teacher was absent…” Shou lied nervously.
“Oh…well I’m happy to meet one of Hiroto’s friend here!” she smiled again as he put the ramen to the boiling water. “I have something to ask though…Did something happen to him?” she asked, looking at the boy.
“Not that I know of…” Shou lied again. He knew exactly what happened to his son. But he couldn’t say that he was kissing his son, could he?
“Really? He was acting weird this morning.” Mrs. Ogata sighed. “Usually he always acted cheerful in front of me because he doesn’t want to make me worry. But today, he has this troubled aura around him and his eyes are red and swollen. I know he has a problem; he just doesn’t want to tell me. He never tells me his problems.” She said sadly. “Somehow I couldn’t help but think that this is my fault.”
Mrs. Ogata turned to him. “You see, I’m raising him all alone. And since I never got to finish my school, all I can do is small job like this.” She emphasized his sentence by inserting some of the ingredients to the pot. “Of course the payment is not that much so I always work until late at night. I think he was forced to grow up faster than kid at his age should be. He learned to help me with housework on his own and he stopped asking for anything. He also stopped being open to me. I’m failed as a mother.”
Shou shook his head. “Of course not.” He said firmly. “Hiroto loves you so much. I think that’s enough proof.” He smiled at her. “You should be proud of Hiroto. Everyone likes him. If not for you who raised him, then I don’t think he would be the way he is now.”
The older woman was touched by Shou’s words. “I’m glad Hiroto has a friend like you.” She ruffled Shou’s hair gently. “Please take care of my son, will you?”
Shou just smiled at her, he didn’t know how to answer that question.
**
“I’m going then. Thank you for the food.” Shou bowed his head to Hiroto’s mom.
“Be careful, ne.” She warned him.
”I will.” Shou replied as he stood up. Accidentally, he knocked over his and Hiroto’s bag.
The bag fell down and Hiroto’s books scattered on the floor. Shou quickly kneeled to put them back to the bag. A few of papers come out from a book and Shou picked them up. It was the playboy list on their school. He saw his photo and data on top of the list. There was a scribble written with red ink that said ‘dangerous’
Shou didn’t know whether to be amused or hurt that Hiroto thought him as dangerous. No wonder Hiroto had recognized him when he bumped into him that day. “He really didn’t like me, eh?” he murmured, remembering the way Hiroto rejected him.
“Are you okay?”
Shou nodded and quickly put all of the books into the bag and left the ramen restaurant.
**
Sighing, Shou walked back to his house. Since he didn’t know where to go, he might as well go home. Besides he was tired of bringing two bags all day. He stopped when he saw a figure standing in front of his house, looking up at his window.
“Hiropon?” he called out.
The small boy’s head snapped to Shou’s in surprise. His eyes widened and automatically, he turned to run. He didn’t know why he was here. When he realized it, his feet had brought him to the playboy’s house.
“Hiropon, wait!” Shou yelled. Surprisingly, the younger boy stopped. “Please, give me a chance to talk.” He walked closer and Hiroto stayed still. Shou took it as a good sign.
He dropped the bags and wrapped his arms around Hiroto’s waist instead. His chin rested on the small shoulder. The smaller boy was tense at first but slowly he relaxed a bit. They stood like that for awhile. Shou missed hugging the small boy.
“I‘m an unwanted child.” Shou murmured suddenly. “My parents never plan to have a child. They thought a child would just hinder their jobs. But things happened and I was born. Of course they didn’t want to change their lifestyle just for a child that they never wanted at the first place. So I grew up alone, without knowing what it felt like to be loved.” He tightened his hold on Hiroto.
“When I entered the junior high school, suddenly girls were all over me and I felt wanted. It felt so good. Then I started dating them. But it was never enough. There was always something missing. I never knew what was that something until Saga told me today.”
“Why are you telling me this?” Hiroto’s heart beat faster.
“I love you, Pon.” Shou whispered.
Hiroto thought his heart had stop beating when he heard Shou said that he loved him. Could he believe him?
“I’m sorry. I’ve been so selfish all this time.” With a last hug to Hiroto, the older boy released his hold and picked up the forgotten bag on the road. He gave Hiroto’s bag to its owner and smiled sadly.
“I won’t bother you again.” Shou didn’t want to but the smaller boy was obviously didn’t like him. For once, he didn’t want to be selfish and let the boy had his peace. Hiroto already had a lot in his mind. Shou shook his head a bit, it seemed like Hiroto’s guilty tendencies had rubbed to him a little. He ruffled the hair of the still silent boy before he walked to his house.
Hiroto felt like if he didn’t stop Shou now, Shou would be gone from his life. Screw all the logic. He wanted Shou. “Wait!” he grabbed Shou’s shirt and pulled him back. “You’re so cruel, you come into my life, make me fall for you and now you’re just going to leave?” Hiroto’s voice shook. “I can’t accept that! You have to take responsibility!” he yelled, droplet of tears rolled down on his cheek.
“Pon…” he felt a hand touched his cheek, making him looked up. Shou smiled softly at him. “You really mean that?” he caressed his face. “You know I won’t let you go if you do.” His smiled got wider as he saw Hiroto nodded his head. He kissed Hiroto’s tear away. “Don’t worry I never ran way from my responsibility.” He giggled.
“Liar,” Hiroto snorted.
“Hey, I’m hurt” the other man pouted cutely.
Hiroto giggled and leaned up to kiss Shou’s lips. It was their real first kiss. It just a brush of lips but for both of them it was more intense and sweeter than any kiss they ever done. Shou cupped Hiroto’s face, happy to see him smiling again. He gave another peck on the plush lips.
“You’re mine now. So don’t ever think to run away from me again.”
The smaller boy rolled his eyes but the smile on his face didn’t fade away. “Well, I could always run to Tora-shi…” he teased.
Shou widened his eyes and tightened his grip on the other’s arms. “WHAT? No way, I won’t let you!”
Hiroto giggled at the reaction. He liked it when the other boy acted so possessive of him. It made him felt wanted. “Baka!” he brushed away some of Shou’s bangs from his face and pulled him down for another kiss. Any protest from the other boy was died instantly as they kissed.
“I’m glad you forgive me…” the taller boy said honestly to Hiroto after they parted.
“Who said I forgive you? You still have to make up to me.” Hiroto frowned. “You really hurt me, you know?”
“I’m really sorry, Pon…” Shou sighed for a bit, thinking what could he do to the smaller boy. Suddenly an idea popped in his mind. “I know!” He exclaimed. Quickly, he led the younger boy to the wall of his house. Hiroto looked confusedly at the other boy as Shou leaned back against it. He walked closer to the taller boy when Shou told him to.
Shou grabbed both of the other boy’s hands and positioned them so the older boy was trapped between them. He looked down at Hiroto and grinned. “Now, you can kiss me all you want! I’m at your mercy.”
Hiroto chuckled. “Is this supposed to make me forgive you? I think you just want to be kissed.” He teased.
“Well, a kiss for a kiss, right? I even let you pinned me.” Shou nudged the smaller boy with his nose, happy that Hiroto smiled. “It’s kind of awkward though, being pinned by someone as short-” he was shut up by Hiroto’s lips touching him tentatively.
“Shut up…” the smaller boy whispered.
The older boy smirked down at the flushed face of Hiroto. “Only if you kiss me again.”
