SUNY Albany Junior Year - in - Review
It’s that time of the year again. Time to reflect on what I think happened this year at SUNY Albany. Like last time around, I will do it as a semester by semester breakdown. So let’s start off with the Fall. It wasn’t really that bad. There was the new Gender and Sexuality Resource Center. I go to watch that place grow and I spent a large portion of my time there. Thinking back to how it looked at the beginning of this year, it really impresses how much it grew. I had a great time just enjoying the semester. There wasn’t any drama, no melt downs. Just life. I quit JA/M after two loyal years and slowly withdrew from Pride. I just needed a change in scene. Instead, My interest in the Albany Lazer Tag club grew and grew. I went to my first formal as a girl and it was probably one of my best experiences ever.
- Still playing Magic. Wasn’t making a whole lot of progress in deck building but made some awesome friends.
- Met Stewart Milk and had my 3rd article published in the ASP
- Seeing the women of All the Kings Men perform again was cool.
- More Left 4 Dead
- Albany Lazer Tag, need I say more.
- Seeing soooo many concerts but number 1 would have to be Streetlight Manifesto
- The formation of my joint blog with Charles, Something Ambiguous.
As you can see, the first semester was pretty low key. But then again, things went down hill from there. My laptop fan croaked. I got arrested. I had to drop out of Latin 102. I pretty much failed all my classes. It just seemed to bad situation after another. I just couldn’t seem to get things going for me. It was pretty rough and I am glad it is now behind me. I mean there were high points. Like ATV, starting my own journalism blog, meeting and interviewing Bayside, and many a misadventure
- Built Monument Green, probably my strongest MTG deck ever.
- Genericon was once again fun and I got to meet a bunch of friends from the year before as well as make new ones. Also, won and impromptu Soul Caliber IV tournament.
- ATV was an awesome experience and gave me confidence in my militant style of interviewing. Short, simple, to the point.
- Learning about the local Albany band scene and finding some awesome bands like Beware! The Other Head of Science.
- Playing a whole lot of Lazer Tag and becoming its secretary. Also, getting mad credit for gun battling and being one of the best tacticians in the club.
- The re-launch of http://www.toolshedoriginal.blogspot.com
- Meeting and getting to know the Nerd Circle crew
This was a forgettable year. Soooo, I just want to stop here.
Year Score: 4/10
