Saddam was finally executed. Well, only a 56 day stretch after he was convicted, really. That's nothing to what most people wait.
I suppose I used to be on the fence about the whole capital punishment thing, but not anymore.
People like him, serial killers, sexual predators - all those people will never change. Once you've commited a crime against humanity, it's not in your hands anymore. Just because serial killers can't find victims in jail or sexual predators don't have females or children in the jail cell, does not mean they will change. It's an entirely environmental conclusion. No, it's not our job to play God but humans are imperfect. We live in an imperfect society so we do the best we can. And some want to say it makes us just as bad as those convicted, but we aren't torturing, gassing, raping, violating, or bombing those on trial. We have one life. One world. We are giving the only justice we can. Even if at the end of the day, if our hands are the ones with blood on them, I'd rather them hold the knife than give it away.
