Day 2 of Kings Fun: Friday's Practice
Friday 3/16: As planned, I went to the Kings' practice. Originally I was supposed to go on Tuesday, but I slept in (all thanx to my fucked up sleep pattern) plus neither girlasleep nor mademoisellenat could make it to practice. Also, although I didn't bother calling Toyota Sports Center to check and see if there was practice since by then it was already too late to go there, Rinkrat from the LGK Boards mentioned that they'll have Tuesday off. So instead I ended up going on Friday. I was gonna take the bus, subway & rail as usual, but Nommie decided to surprise me and go w/ me.
We were running late since I still had to get ready since I slept in and I had to do some chores before leaving the house. Traffic wasn't too bad except for some parts of the 5 (go figure) and the 710. We got there at about 11(ish) and we caught some of the on ice practice. I took some pix, but not as much since the on ice session was dying off much quicker than expected. mademoisellenat joined us for the on ice session.
As soon as everyone was off the ice and the zamboni was smoothening the ice, we went outside at our usual spots to catch the players. Sean Burke came out, but he had to do a quick interview. Afterwards, he and Nommie had a convo. about goalie equipment & stuff and they had their pix taken together. Since Nommie wanted to prepare for the Skills Competition, he ended up taking advantage of the stick time while mademoisellenat and I stayed outside. Then Cammy comes out next. These 2 girls were the the first to ask him for a pic, and one of the girls was brave enough to have her hand on his chest (I was about to do the same, but I couldn't. All I could do his have my hands rubbing his abs by the time I had my pix w/ him). After meeting him, I had my 15-20 seconds of uber fan girlie-ness/teeny moments.
Other players we got were Pat O'Sullivan, Anze Kopitar, Derek Armstrong, Jamie Lundmark, John Zeiler, Gabe Gauthier and Noah Clarke.
I skipped a few since 1) I already had (a decent pic w/ him-Frolov that is) at the previous practice, 2) I didn't have anything for him to sign (since I didn't feel like dragging my jersey out of the truck), 3) they were too far from reach and speeding off, and 4) some of them park in the gated areas.
In all, I was beyond satisfied w/ what I got. As soon as all the players and fans waiting for the players left, mademoisellenat and I went our own separate ways and I ended up watching the remaining stick time session where Nommie was on goal. As soon as he was done and all dressed up, we left El Segundo and drove out all the way to Monrovia to have dinner and hopefully pick up menus at the Canadian Cafe. The menus weren't made yet, but I'll have to pick them up sometime this week as well as inquire for a job at Diron's Business Center, since they are hiring and are desperately in need of help. BTW... Diron's is owned by Ron & Diane, the owner's of the Canadian Cafe. We'll see how it goes.
As soon as we got home, we were so spent! I managed to watch some of the Pens game despite the fact that I was pretty much dead.
Well, I'm gonna end this now. I'll have the skills competition/Kings vs. Blue Jackets game posted on the nextcoming entry. I need to get ready for class. I still need to return comments as well as read and comment on journals. I promise I'll get those all done. This week is gonna be an intense week since my bookcovers are due Wednesday plus I have other assignments due as early as tomorrow. I thought I'd give you a heads up just if case I unexpectantly disappear w/o any warning/valid excuse. Gotta thank my fucked up sleep pattern for that. However, no entry is complete w/o pix. I'll post those as soon as I end this entry.

Another Cat Rental Store... Gah, I miss last year's Moncton Wildcats' broadcasts!
