Luc Robitaille's Jersey Ceremony & Operation M-A Bernier

Jan 28, 2007 11:33

Finally a real entry w/ 28 pix under the cut. Dial-Up beware although I changed the resolution to make loading easier and faster. Hopefully this will work.

Anyhow, last Saturday Nommie and I ended up going up the Angeles Mountains since we wanted to do something new plus I needed to take photos for my class. There was hardly any snow, but it was still beautiful. Mt. Lowe on the other hand is very cloudy, but the most quietest and relaxing place. This was once upon a time a railway. Nonetheless, the Angeles Mountains were wonderful and I'd love to go back there again. I'll have pix posted another time since I have to sort and resize them.

On our way home, we stopped by at Famima and Subway to get dinner. I was expecting to get back home so that we can watch the Pens/Leafs game as well as Kings game especially Luc Robitaille's jersey ceremony. Then Nommie asked me if I wanted to go to Staples Center to try our luck w/ the tix. So I said ok and we went there. Mobs of people were going in and stuff while I sat there and envied everyone since the cheapest tix we could find were at least $89 for 1 ticket. After a while, Nommie decided to try his luck w/ the scalpers. He ended up getting 2 300's tix for $60. That was incredibly cheaper than what I saw at eBay. Anyways, we got in just in time for the ceremony. If case you missed it, I made a phone post since many of you thought I'd be watching the game at home.

The ceremony itself was comical yet beautiful. It was long as well, but what did you expect? It was so worth it because Luc is one of my all time favorite Kings player as well as NHLer. I even cried a bit during the ceremony. Luc kept telling stories about his teammates, and he'd say... "I'm Almost Done..." It was taking long but he didn't want to leave anyone out. Gotta love Luc for that! Then when the banner ceremony began, his son's Steven & Jesse helped these 2 ladies get the banner ready and stuff and the banner was raise. It was so beautiful. In all, I'm glad Nommie & I got to witness it live.

As for the game, it was going well especially when the Kings had a 2-1 lead for a while and Sean Burke kicking ass on goal. The moment Sean Burke left the game, we were so screwed. Not only that but the defense sunked down, Army took a dumb ass penalty, the Coyotes scored on the PP and won the game. I was engraged over this, but it's the Kings. Go figure!

Aside from the shittyness of the game, the ceremony went well. :D

Sunday-Tuesday: Nothing too eventful. I just watched the Youngstars Game & NHL Skills Competition. Anze, Phil, Staalsy & Zach Parise all kicked ass. The cute part was when Anze assisted on Ryan Getzlaf's goals. ^^

Wednesday: Nommie & I went to the Ice Dogs vs. Victoria Salmon Kings game. Originally it was supposed to be Operation Julien Ellis night, but he was recalled to Manitoba. So that turned into Operation Marc-Andre Bernier night. Gamewise, it sucked while the Salmon Kings were fun to watch. This is why I miss last year's Ice Dogs team so friggin much! At least last year's team kicked ass and they played better. I knew this year's team would suck and I am right. The Ice Dogs lost 3-1, and we ended up getting free tix to this coming week's games. After the game I met Ash & Wes Goldie (yes-they are brothers) as well as Marc-Andre Bernier & Alexandre Vincent. I mentioned to Alexandre about the Q, in his cute heavy French accent he said "Chicoutimi". It was so cute. On our way home, we went to Starbucks as always almost all Ice Dogs games. We chatted w/ a couple guys who were hockey fans (one was a Kings fan while another was a Red Wings & Avalanche fan). That was Wednesday night.

I had my jersey on in honor of Sidney Crosby & the All Star Game (although I had to miss it for this game-but that's what PVR's are for ;] ).

Thursday & Friday = Uneventful except my parents and I had dinner at Wokano & the Kings beat the Canucks in OT Friday night. I've also been listening to a lot of Rolling Stones as well. It's amazing they've been peforming together for over 40 years. They were my musical roots. My dad has a handful of the albums on vinyl (especially their albums from the 60's & 70's) as well as cd and tapes. I remember watching their music videos and rocking out to them as a kid.

Yesterday: Nommie and I went to Redondo Beach for the Kings Watch Party. It was at Redondo Beach Cafe. Not only was the food great, but the owners are Greek-Canadian, and they can speak French as well. They also serve poutine (this is the 2nd place in Cali where they actually serve poutine), serve Canadian beer & play lots of hockey games on t.v. Since there was so many ppl. it took us forever to get seated & I was getting cranky since I didn't eat much all day. We met up w/ a girl named Valerie who was originally from Montreal. Since she went alone, we invited her to sit with us. She was really cool. We chatted a lot about hockey and she taught Nommie some French as well. Kostos, one of the owners, would speak to her in French. As for the game, it was okay until the end. The party itself was a bit disorganized, but then again there was a bunch of Kings and hockey fans that were crammed into one little restaurant. At least Nommie, Valerie & I got a cap for participating in a trivia game. I'll have pix posted soon since I haven't uploaded them.

Well, that's all for now. Till then, have a wonderful day. :)
