Hockey Is Back! 9-16 Training Camp, Kings vs. Sharks Preseason Game & Stuff In Between

Sep 22, 2006 12:13

*Back from LJ hiatus-I've been so lazy and out of it lately*

Anyways, last Saturday Nommie and I went back to Toyota Sports Center for training camp. We only caught Team Goring practice since neither one of us wanted to wake up early to catch the other practices and scrimmage game. Cammy, Conny, and Pat O'Sullivan were in a line together, so that could be a potential 1st line for the Kings.

After the on ice session, some of the players were coming out already. We met Tim Gleason, Alex Frolov, Mathieu Garon, Tom Kostopoulos, Rich Petiot, Brent Sopel, Pat O'Sullivan, Jeff Guiliano, Brendan Buckley, Scott Thornton, Brian Wilsie, Mike Cammalleri, Greg Hogeboom, Matt Ryan, Craig Conroy, Ryan Munce and a few others. In addition to meeting the players, I met up w/ fucker_ducker, Stef & Donna. Once again we missed Jonathan Bernier and Dan Cloutier. I guess Dan Cloutier snuck out and left super early. I believe Baby Berns and a handful of rookies were at the gated area. We so could've gotten them if they weren't eating lunch. By the time they were done, they all boarded the shuttle and left. So whoever thought of the idea of getting all the rooks shuttled to their hotels needs to get tomatoes thrown at them. It'd be totally understandable if they were going anywhere else (like a beach or something), but at least they could've assigned a few with a vet and be their shadow for a day or so. That'd be cool. From what I heard, they were staying at a different hotel in town rather than the Hilton next door. How inconvinient not to mention I missed a lot of rooks that way. So pretty much my mission to see Baby Berns again failed, but there's always next year or so. It took me 4 years to meet Cammy and Hogeboom again, so it may take that long to see Baby Berns again. To all my Q girls, please keep a lookout for him when the Maineiacs come to your hometown. ;)

After training camp, we went to the Pond to get Penguins vs. Ducks tix as well as Duckroast tix. Then we went to Staples Center to get Kings vs. Penguins tix. So I'll be going to 3 regular season games, 2 of them Penguins game for my birthday week.

The rest of the time was spent going to church for St. Robert Bellarmines 100th Anniversary kick off, followed by a reception w/ yummy food. :9

Sunday and Monday were rather uneventful.

Tuesday, after class I had lunch at the Canadian Cafe since I was craving for those yummy Canadian "wet fries". After lunch, I went to this military surplus store where they also sold flags. I got Canadian flags for myself, Nommie and hockeychix98. I was hoping they'd have Czech, Slovak and Finnish flags, but they didn't have any, but they told me to check back some other time.

Later that night, last minute Nommie and I ended up going to a Kings vs. Sharks preseason game, since we were missing our hockey so much. Luckily Brian/Angry King and his girlfriend gave us their tix for the game for free since they had better seats to the game. As for the game, it was boring and still the same ol' Kings as last season except it's preseason and different players. Cammy, Conny and Sully were in a line together. I'm really starting to like Kevin Dalman a lot. He was one of our best defensemen from the game. Our defense still sucks though. Dan Cloutier had some amazing saves. Baby Berns played the 2nd 1/2 of the game, and came so close to having disastrous play. In all he played well for a baby rookie goalie. :) Alex Frolov scored for the Kings in the 3rd. Rob Blake, despite getting boos eachtime he'd touch the puck, got one of the assists, along w/ Anze Kopitar. Kings lost to the Sharks 3-1, but at least we got in the game for free. In all, it was great to have my hockey back.

Thank goodness for 5.1 MP pix and the cropping tool... Or else the pix would be incredibly tiny that it'd be worthless to post.

Wednesday: Classes as usual, but I had my Penguins shirt on and this guy in my class asked me if the Penguins still exist. I told him yes they do. Then he later mentioned how the Ducks' new jerseys and colors were so ugly and he was wondering why they changed their colors. I told him that Disney sold the team. Later that night I took some pix of me w/ my Pens shirt and my Canadian Flag.

Well, that's all for now. I need to get ready for the game. In the meantime it's Derick Brassard's 19th Birthday. Happy Birthday Brass! Also, happy belated birthday to Yandleface, Steeve Villeneuve and Olivier "Michi" Michaud. I hope you all have a fantabulous birthday and I hope your wishes will come true.

All: Merci Beaucoup!

Alrighty, toodles!
