Manhattan Beach And Beyond

First off, LJ Friend O'The Day...

jonniehardcore : He's a really cool guy to chat with and even hang out. I like how he has excellent taste of music, and his collection of comics, Transformers, and many more. He's also an excellent artist. I give him lots of kudos for being very brave and serving our country. Lastly, he & Shannon are so adorable together. We so need to hang out soon. :)

wicked_kathy : She is a really amazing person not to mention a sweetie. She shares my love for hockey, hockey players, music, fashion & even stuffed animals. She was even sweet enough to make photo copies of Gui in La Voix Du Village for Yvette and I. She is an amazing artist and photographer. Lastly she's a dedicated Habs and Voltiguers fan. Overall, Kathy rules! :D

I'll have 2 ppl. per entry. :)

Otherwise...

Friday: Nommie and I went to Toyota Sports Center in hope of ice skating and catching a scrimmage game that had Evgeni Malkin. No luck, but we had dinner at Stick N Stein, supposively a Kings player hang out place. No hockey players, but the food was excellent.

Then we went to Manhattan Beach where we had ice cream at the Manhattan Beach Creamery. Then we walked down the pier where we checked out this small yet amazing aquarium.

Our last stop was Downtown Disney where we did some window shopping, but I got a pair of boxers at Build A Pair since that particular pair hasn't been seen at other Build A Bear stores.

On our way out, there were fireworks going on at Disneyland. They were colorful and beautiful.

Saturday: Nommie and I went back to Toyota Sports Center. Still no luck, but we did see Noah Clarke. He was there for his cousin's hockey tournament. We chatted w/ him and his sisters. They were very friendly and talkable.

Afterwards, we went to Fashion Island for more window shopping. It was very nice, but a lot of expensive places. I ended up not getting anything except for free pretzels. Since it was Bearemy the Mascot's birthday and Build A Bear, I brought all of my Build A Bear family, and they all got lifetime Paw Passes. We even had our pix taken w/ Bearemy while the bears plus Wild Willie got to see 2 stuffed animals being stuffed. Unless a Kings outfit comes out, I promised myself and Nommie not to buy anymore Build A Bears, unless I buy them as gifts. ^^

Later that night Liza, Cem, Nommie, myself and out parents all had dinner. Then Liza, Cem, Nommie, and I all went to downtown L.A. where we watched this little concert for India's Independence Day @ Disney Hall. It was rather dissapointing b/c the only acts we caught was this one artist who reminded me of Shakira and a little taste of Zayra from Rockstar Supernova. The last act was this trio who had more of a popish tune or whatever. Either way, they weren't that great. I was hoping they'd have more traditional Eastern Indian performances than the popish performances. Then we went to MOCA for the rest of the night. We got to see artworks from mostly Eva Hesse and Robert Rauschenberg as well as Andy Warhol. Of all of these artists (excluding Warhol since only a select few of his works were displayed), Rauschenberg's art pieces were my favorites because I really liked how he'd put other objects other than paintings on canvases. I really like how artsists like him will break away from traditional art practices and take their art to the next level such as puttings shoes, clothing, birds, and even industrial objects on a canvas. They make these types of paintings very interesting. That's why I like Mixed Media a lot. That was our trip to MOCA.

The rest of the week has been rather uneventful other than me working out a bit and working on the ads for my church.

I'll be leaving soon for our trip to LACMA. Hopefully I'll be home in time to catch Rockstar Supernova. In the meantime I'll leave you w/ some pix.

Anyways, have a wonderful day. :D
