Goodbye Tamby, Grebs & Lehoux... Welcome to the Kings Mark Parrish, Brent Sopel & Tim Jackman

Mar 09, 2006 16:22

Do you ever have one of these feelings when you are anxious over something coming up (i.e. a t.v. series, an upcoming cd release or even perhaps a NHL trade deadline)? After all of that hype, you end up feeling dissapointed because all of that hype wasn't even all that. So all of that hype and anxiety for nothing...

This is exactly how I feel, especially with the Kings as far as the trade deadline goes...

Yesterday the Kings got Mark Parrish & Brent Sopel from the NY Islander for Jeff Tambellini and Denis Grebeshkov.

My thoughts: I am happy and confindent that we got both Parrish and Sopel. Both guys have played well for their former teams. I'm hoping they could do the same for the Kings and help them out. I'm however sad that Jeff Tambellini was gone because he was one of my favorite baby players. I was also surprised that he was part of this trade. Grebeshkov on the other hand... I'm relieved that he's gone. I know he still some more time to develop, but during those times he's played for the Kings, he has dissapointed me. At least he could've done a better job on the blue line during the times he was with the Kings. Hopefully he can grow and develop w/ the Islanders'farm team. Best wishes to them all...

Otherwise, it was all blah, especially today. I was expecting another big trade for the Kings, but it didn't happen. I was hoping they could've at least gotten Bryan McCabe or Olli Jokinen, but it didn't happen. They only had one small trade, and they traded Yanick Lehoux to the Coyotes for Tim Jackman. I could do w/o Lehoux, but it'd been icing on a cake had they included Olivier Latendresse. Ah well...

I was highly surprised that Sean Avery didn't get traded at all, considering there was some tension between him and Andy Murray & thought all along he'd end up being traded. So he'll be sticking around for a while (good news especially for you fucker_ducker and lemonyice).

And here are my thoughts on a select few trades...

Colorado Avalanche acquire goaltender Jose Theodore from the Montreal Canadiens in exchange for goaltender David Aebischer.

This was the biggest surprise of all trades. I know it's been a bad season for Jose (everything from losing his #1 spot to Cristobal Huet to the drug testing incident to a broken heel during the Olympic break). Poor Guy... The trade whatsoever was so unexpected... I didn't think Jose would be going anywhere at all. Hopefully the Avs will be a good fit for him. It's not gonna be the same seeing him w/ the Avs b/c I'm sooooo used to seeing him as a Habs goalie. Anyways, best wishes to both goalies.

Mighty Ducks of Anaheim acquire defenceman Sean O'Donnell from the Phoenix Coyotes in exchange for forward Joel Perrault.

OD the traitor? I still remember OD w/ the Kings many years back. OD and his beachfront home. OD playing beach volley ball w/ Matt Johnson, Rob Blake & Brent Lindros during NHLPA Be A Player. Me making a OD card for the Upper Deck create a card contest (my friend Amber, who got me into that contest, won). Me meeting OD at Tip A King, Training Camp & even the wives/gfs fashion show @ Bloomingdales in Sherman Oaks. Now he's with the Ducks... Ahhhhh... Why do the ex-Kings always end up w/ the Ducks?

Vancouver Canucks acquire goaltender Mika Noronen from the Buffalo Sabres in exchange for a second-round pick in 2006.

AHHHHHHHHH!!! WHY COULDN'T THIS TRADE HAPPEN LAST WEEK OR SOONER FOR hockeychix98'S SAKE!!!!??? If only that trade happend last week or sooner, Maxime could've at least been in Omaha... Ah well. That means I won't get to see Maxie play/warm the bench when I go to the Ducks/Canucks game in April. :( :( :(

And in a way, aren't they already loaded with goalies? It makes me wonder what they are gonna do w/ Dan Cloutier once he recovers from his knee injury?

Carolina Hurricanes acquire forward Mark Recchi from the Pittsburgh Penguins in exchange for forward Niklas Nordgren, forward Krys Kolanos and a second-round pick in 2007.

I was somewhat surprised that Rex would be traded, but not overly since I know he was better off playing for a playoff contending team instead of a crappy team (I hate having to use that word for my 2nd favorite team, but sometimes the truth hurts). Poor Sidney... Daddy Figure #2 is gone. :( At least in return they get more baby players... Hopefully things will work out for Sid's new teammates. Best wishes to them all.

Vancouver Canucks acquire defenceman Keith Carney and the rights to defenceman Juha Alen from the Mighty Ducks of Anaheim in exchange for defenceman Brett Skinner and a second-round pick (originally NY Islanders) in 2006.

*le sigh* When I was checking the trade news during class, it was still a propsect TBA. I was all... "PLEASE DO NOT SEND BERT BOURDON THERE!!!! I DON'T CARE IF HE'LL BE MUCH CLOSER TO ME!!!! I HATE THE DUCKS AND I DON'T WANT LUC BOURDON TO BE THERE!!!" Thank fucking goodness they got Brett Skinner instead. I highly doubt Dave Nonis would give up his prized D-man (Bert) for a much older player. >__<

New York Rangers acquire defenceman Sandis Ozolinsh from the Mighty Ducks of Anaheim in exchange for a third-round draft pick (originally San Jose) in 2006.

No wonder why the NY Rangers are called "The East Coast Ducks"... How many ex-Ducks are w/ the Rangers?

Edmonton Oilers acquire forward Sergei Samsonov from the Boston Bruins in exchange for forward Marty Reasoner, forward Yan Stastny and a second-round pick in 2006.

Sammy has been one of my favorite Bruins. Now he's gone... :( :( :( Seeing him w/ the Oilers jersey won't be the same...

Well, that's all from Hockey Land.

Otherwise, classes as usual & I'm still caffeine deprived. It's been more than a week since I had caffeine. It's seriously killing me now. Start next week, I'm so ready to say "FUCK IT!" and get my doses of Red Bull, Coffee Bean, Starbucks, ect. to keep me awake. I so need it the next 2 weeks or so when it's crunch time for my 2 major projects.

Tomorrow and next week I want to devote it on finishing up my project now that I have a sense of direction figured out. I am hoping I can get both projects printed and hopefully put together by next Friday since 2 weeks from now will be a crazy fun week for me (that was planned long before I signed up for my spring classes).

Then tomorrow night I'll likely go see Circa Survive w/ Saves The Day & Moneen... I'm excited to see Circa Survive... I haven't seen Moneen in 2 years, but I'm not overly excited to see Saves The Day since I'm not into them that much.

Jobwise, I may apply for this one company... I like how it's has a flexible schedule and gives me an awesome job opportunity. At the same time, it's screaming to my face VECTOR!!!! (that one knife selling co.), except it's for Vitamins suppliments instead of knives...

I did however found this flyer yesterday while I was on break...

Bert
You scored 68% Organization, 61% abstract, and 47% extroverted! This test measured 3 variables.

First, this test measured how organized you are. Some muppets like Cookie Monster make big messes, while others like Bert are quite anal about things being clean.

Second, this test measured if you prefer a concrete or an abstract viewpoint. For the purposes of this test, concrete people are considered to gravitate more to mathematical and logical approaches, whereas abstract people are more the dreamers and artistic type.

Third, this test measured if you are more of an introvert or an extrovert. By definition, an introvert concentrates more on herself and an extrovert focuses more on others. In this test an introvert was somebody that either tends to spend more time alone or thinks more about herself.

You are very organized, both concrete and abstract, and both introverted and extroverted.

Here is why are you Bert.

You are both very organized. You almost always know where your belongings are and you prefer things neat. You may even enjoy cleaning and find it therapeutic. Bert is a big neat freak and gets quite annoyed when Ernie makes a big mess.

You both are sometimes concrete and sometimes abstract thinkers. Bert is probably a bit more concrete in his bottlecap collecting addiction and his love of the weather. He does show his abstract side when he sings and performs his "Doin' The Pidgeon" song. You have a good balance in your life. You know when to be logical at times, but you also aren't afraid to explore your dreams and desires... within limits of course.

You are both somewhat introverted. Bert is probably more introverted, because he spends most of his time either with Ernie or alone. Still he has no problem being around other people in his role as chairman of "The National Association of 'W' Lovers." Like Bert, you probably like to have some time to yourself, but you do appreciate spending time with your friends, and you aren't scared of social situations.

The other possible characters are

Oscar the Grouch

Big Bird

Snuffleupagus

Ernie

Elmo

Kermit the Frog

Grover

Cookie Monster

Guy Smiley

The Count

If you enjoyed this test, I would love the feedback! Also if you want to tell me your favorite Sesame Street character, I can total them up and post them here. Perhaps your choice will win!
