Pts. 2 et 3: Kings' Practice & Kings vs. Ducks

Jan 29, 2006 18:50

Happy 23rd Birthday Tim "Glee" Gleason!

Here's the continuation of my Kings week... (Long Entry & 56 pix under the cut so beware...)

girlasleep and I went to the Kings' practice Friday morning. Before the guys got on the ice, a few players (I later found out that they were the Kings' Olympians) in full uniform (not just practice gear) walked by. I was able to get Craig Conroy to sign puckplayer42's jersey and we chatted for a bit. I quickly told him that hockeychix98 and C said hello, since I didn't want to hold him. The morning skate was a very intense one for the Kings' boys, after getting their butts kicked the night before. I know they were working on the passing and puck control hardcore because they made way too many give aways which partially cost them their game. The rest were practicing on skating, shooting, ect. Even Luc kept cheering each time someone scored a goal. Then JR's son got to skate with the Kings boys on the ice, and even he and EBel (Eric Belanger) were passing the puck back and forth. It was so cute!

Then when the ice session was dying off, we headed outside where we meet up with a handful of players. During the wait, I chatted w/ a couple guys also waiting to meet the players. Even one guy gave me a bunch of game pix since he had extras. I also chatted with a screenwriter/movie producer who had given movie scripts to Luc (and I think JR as well) for some hockey movie.

And here are some player highlights:

*Tim Gleason: I still didn't recognized him (shame on him for chopping off those long curly locks. :P). At first I thought he was Jeff Cowan, but when I got a better look, it was him. So I went up to him and said hi, and he asked me what he could do for me. I just asked him for a pic since I have nothing ready to sign. I should've at least brought one of my Glee posters I got from the game the night before. I really felt so bad for not being prepared, but he looked good as always. :)

*Pavol Demitra: I asked him when he'll be back, and he told me that he didn't know but he was getting close.

*Mike Cammalleri: Of all players I met, he took the cake! I first had him sign Le Petit Cammy & thanked him for answering my questions from a while back. After having our pix taken and everything and once he signed for everyone else, I had him sign my card. After I thanked again & wished him luck, he said something like... "Thanks a lot, hun!" I seriously died on the spot!!! I'm all like... Did he just call me hun? OMFG!!!! jfshjfchggsdhc
I was totally in awe and he totally made my day. :D :D :D

*George Parros: I'm glad he ditched his old, run down red & white Ford Bronco for a much nicer and newer Chevy SUV. I still remember him driving that old Bronco at the Prospects Scrimmage game many years back. Even JR (on Break The Ice) thought he had the worst car for driving that Bronco.

The only dissapointment from that day was Joe Corvo. I wanted to meet him. In fact, he was still on the ice when we left the rink. Normally he's the first player out to his car, and normally I'd see him. Somehow, he must have snucked out. We waited and waited long enough to the point where I had to ask Labby (Jason Labarbera) & George Parros if he was still around, but both of them informed me that he was gone. I really wanted to meet him at practice. What a sneeky lil bastard! :P

We left the Toyota Sports Center before 2, and thankfully I was able to make it to my transfer bus on time.

As soon as I got home, I ran a few errands before being spent. I wanted to watch the Wildcats/Oceanic game, but the stream was down... :(

So that was Friday. It was great spending time with girlasleep after not seeing her since the Kings/Preds game.

Originally I didn't plan on going to that game, but earlier in week Aimee called me and wanted to hang out since we haven't done so in a while.

Anyways, us along w/ puckplayer42 all had our pregame breakfast at Eatz before heading over to Staples Center. Since we got to the game early, we made signs for the game... Since we were rushing and everything, my sign came out crappy and I even messed up on some parts. At least it turned out better than expected...

puckplayer42 and I pimpin out our signs... (Sorry Ducks fans...)

We were able to make it down the ice for the pregame skate. I took a handful of pix before the pregame skate session was over (aka Cammy & Corvs whore up my camera ^__~).

Cammy is pissed off... Why Cammy? Could it be because Bert Bourdon told you that we were secretly dating behind your back? Or did Cammy just see Bert? Tehehehe. :P

Before we headed over to our seats, I added another family member to the Kings' stuffed animal crew... A piggy named "Chubby Dustin".

And here's a pic of Chubby Dustin w/ Petit Cammy...

I also bidded for a dog food bowl decorated by Dustin Brown, but I knew I'd be out bidded since I'm so cheap.

1st Period: We scored the 1st goal all thanx to Cammy. I guess Petit Cammy has been his good luck charm for him...

But as the game went by, we were taking stupid penalties and the Sluts kept scoring on us! By the end of the 1st period, we were down 3-1.

1st Intermission: We went to the Team LA store where I met up w/ a handful of LGKers including Stef. I haven't seen her forever, and it was great to see her again after all of these years. During my Team LA shopping spree, I snagged another stuffed animal and named him Corvo.

2nd Period: It's a damn good thing we missed some of the 2nd period because the Ducks scored 3 more goals on us. Grrr... I guess the stuffed animals were a curse to the poor Kings boys.

3rd Period: Aimee had to leave since she had to babysit, but she had fun at the game, and I was so glad to have her around. :)

Me & Aimee @ Aimee's 1st hockey game.

Anyways, I was in the bathroom when Cammy scored the 2nd goal for the Kings. I screamed so loud when that happend. I guess Petit Cammy has been his good luck charm.

The rest of the game otherwise was pretty much poopy, especially when the Kings couldn't score on the 5 min. power play and 5 on 3 combined, until the end when there was a lot of ass kicking. There was no scoring the rest of the game and the Ducks pwned us 6-2. ;___;

At least after the game, while we were heading over to the escalators, this little girl told me that she liked my sign. (Awwwww...)

Since we had so much time to kill, we decided to stick around and watch the players leave, but we ended up meeting some players getting drive thru autographs and pix. In fact, Joe Corvo surprisingly stopped for us and I had him sign "Corvo's" shirt. His wife was there w/ him, and she's very very beautiful. She's one lucky gal to have him and mad props to her for having to put up with him, especially the darkest year. Prior to the game, I was holding a grudge over him because he went back to being the old crappy Corvo (especially those last 2 games) instead of the 2005-06 Corvo and he snuck out on me during practice. I was beyond ecstatic after meeting him and getting "Corvo" signed. He really made my day and night after me feeling so grumpy all thanx to the Kings losing. Much < 333 and Huggles to Corvs!

Joe & Angela Corvo

I was hoping Brownie would stop and sign Chubby Dustin, but he zoomed off plus he had friends in his car. So I had Con sign Chubby Brownie instead since he's been so incredibly nice that I want another stuffed animal named after him.

I was hoping Cammy would stop, but he was talking on his phone and he too zoomed off. At least he has a very niiiiiiiice car! Besides, I didn't really have anything for him to sign plus I am still reluctant to have him sign my jersey. Maybe later on I'll have him sign it.

The last player we met was George Parros, since he was out and around. I had my pic taken w/ him and knucked 5ed him, wishing him luck.

Other notable highlights: One of the Ducks players flipped off one of the Kings' fan while the Ducks bus zoomed by. We also met the lady who runs the official Jeremy Roenick website.

After we were done meeting/watching the players leave, we headed back to the Team LA store in hopes of getting a purple (Greatful Deads looking bear) and naming him Conroy, but by then the store was closed. So all together we left Staples Center.

We then took a trip to Hollywood where we drove down Sunset, and we stopped by at Asia De Cuba in Hotel Mondrian where we made reservations for our Just For Fun & Kicks Valentine's Day Dinner Date. However, I'm still gonna celebrate Single Awareness Day, but unlike past SAD days, this SAD day will be in a more positive and fun way. I so cannot wait till that dinner date! ;)

Our last stop was Universal City Walk in hopes of getting that bear I wanted, but the Team LA Store didn't sell Kings' stuffed animals. I did however snagged a cute beanie and a Kings Princess shirt that's sooooooooo me!

Trying On some Kings swag!

Then we had dinner at Dodger Dogs where we had yummy food especially the hot dogs (the ones you'd get at Dodgers games) and funnel cake. Yum yum! :9

And the night isn't complete w/o pix of us after the game...

I WANT FOOD!

Us @ Dodger Dogs

As soon as I got home, I watched the Canucks vs. Avs game via Hockey Night In Canada and from there on I was so spent!

And here's my new Kings Family made up of Dust Magnets...

Chubby Dustin, Petit Cammy & Corvo watching the Canucks/Avalanche game. As soon as I get my Conroy bear, I'll switch shirts w/ Dustin.

All in the family!

Today: I didn't do much except go to church and watched some of the Wildcats/Fog Devils game before leaving for the mall. While my mom was mostly at Lens Crafter, I went around shopping and trying on potential outfits I may wear to the Valentine's/SAD day dinner date. I also got a pair of jeans at Hollisters that was on sale. Otherwise, I was pretty much out all day long...

Now I have to do some of my homework (should be easy since it's drawing faces) before I sleep. I also need to get caught up w/ LJ as well as Myspace. In the meantime, I've been watching Miracle, one of my favorite hockey movies.

After 3 days of Kings fun-ness, it's back to reality. I had loads of fun those past 3 days, but I have to admit, I'm starting to get burnt out going to Kings games. At least this coming month the NHL will be off due to the Olympics. I'm really looking forward to seeing Team Canada whoop ass in men's hockey (although I want Team USA to win gold for the women's hockey). The Kings will have 2 more home games, but I have no plans on going to either one of these home games. The next game I'm looking forward to seeing is the Kings vs. Avalanche game during Adam Deadmarsh Tribute night. The day before the big game, I'd love to go to another Kings practice. This time, it'll be a Sunday practice instead of Friday. I'm kinda getting sick of going to Friday practices. :P

Here are some things I'm looking forward to in Feb.:

*Olympics
*The Valentine's/SAD Day Dinner Date @ Asia De Cuba (BTW... That's one of Cammy's favorite restaurant according to lakings.com)
*(Possibly) Armor Of Sleep w/ Circa Survive @ The Glasshouse
*Mest w/ Allister, Scary Kids Scaring Kids & Just Ask @ The House of Blues
*Congradulating Keith & arielchick since this will be their 3 year anniversary...
*And *cross your fingers* hopefully I will get the TA job for Spring Semester. I won't find out until mid/late February, but hopefully I hear from PCC's Art Computer Lab department. :) If I don't get the job, I'll go back to doing my job search, submitting applications and resumes (big thanx to kaorirose for reviewing and tweeking it) via Monstertrak. Please wish me lots and tons of luck!

One thing I forgot to mention on the previous entry... I spotted 2 more Luc Bourdon look alikes Thursday night... One at the Kings vs. Oilers game. The other walking across the street w/ his gf (mad props to him for having an Asian gf since I myself am 1/2 Asian) in Pasadena.

Most of all, big thanx to puckplayer42, girlasleep and Aimee for everything and being able to spend time w/ me. I'm so glad you made these past few days possible. ^__^
Well, that's all my friends. Till then, have a wonderful night! :D

Much < 333 & Huggles for reading this all...

Edit:

BTW... I wore my Cammy jersey until the Ducks scored the 2nd or 3rd goal of the game. From there I switched to my 3rd jersey...

Mission Accomplished! Corvs and Me after he signed Corvo. :)

P.S.

Please don't take any of my pix w/o asking me first. If you want to use my pix, please comment and ask. Much greatly appreciate it. Anyways, thanx a lot! :D
