Title: Under The Cloak Rating: r (yes, we've moved it along at this point, I think) Word Count: 1,864 Summary: Julie Taylor is nothing like the Madonna (Part V in the Permission To Exist series.) Disclaimer: I own nothing.
You continued the "permission to exist" series! :)!
When I saw the christening and that Santiago was there (watching Julie!), I really hoped it would inspire some fic. I loved Santiago's inner monologue, and that he hasn't forgotten "Fucking Mr. Barnett."
I quite actually gasped when Julie made her little confession to Santiago about the kiss. Now that's something I can't wait for details on in a later installment. Did it happen? Is Julie testing Santiago--like finding out if he'll keep her secrets? And who else saw Julie holding Santiago's hand?
I liked the conversation with Riggins. Your introduction of him "no matter who he's talking to, Tim Riggins always sounds like he's trying to pick someone up" is a great line.
I really appreciated that you brought back Julie's dancing, and that Santiago noticed that about her. And that he has this crisis because he sees her as an attractive girl and as a Madonna/Virgin figure. You keep coming back to this purity he sees in her, and it's so there, but he also just adores her. It's very sweet, and I can't wait for more!
I'm obsessed with this series. It's a sickness. And it just keeps on getting more layered, because I'm tying in all these sub-plots that are canon from the show, and then twisting them to fit this little world.
Hee...You're the only one who's really picked up on the fact that Julie admitted that Noah is the creep Tami thought he was! I'm totally coming back to that- there's a lot between them to sort out now, and remember, Matt's in that class too!
Santiago is *clearly* very attracted to her (and who wouldn't be, the girl is beautiful), and very drawn to the innocent, pure quality Julie has, probably because it's different from anyone else he's ever known (I imagine), but what I love about writing them is that she doesn't come off as this virginal ingenue when I start hearing her in my head. They're actually very prickly towards each other and it makes everything more interesting!
